We missed 30 minutes of the show at the entrance because the person in charge at the reception did not accept the printed document representing the confirmation of purchase of tickets online. Finally when we asked to be reimbursed the manager gave us our ticket. All by ourselves we struggled to seat ourselves because the clerck did not want to show us the way. Anyway! The show may have been good, but we couldn't appreciate it because we were very badly seated. The staff chitchatting outside should have payed more attention to clients instead of leaving us in the hands of young unexperienced trainee unable to manage the situation.

The Nice Opera house is a beautiful building to visit, but if you are planning to see a production, do not book tickets on the 5th or 6th floor. You will be sitting on uncomfortable benches with very little leg room and, in quite a few places, you won't be able to see the ballet, opera, etc. The ushers do not stand inside the venue, so people feel free to change their seats. One family of four went down to an empty box, to sit in chairs, on the 4th floor! Patrons are also able to arrive after the production has started and if they don't like their seats, they seem to think it is their right to move, and disrupt others, until they settle into their newly chosen spot. The ushers are outside, on their phones. Be prepared to pay for a chair if you want to enjoy the performances in this building.

Loved being shown around the Nice Opera House. The tour is completely in French, but we understood most of it. The tour guide was wonderful and despite us not understanding every word, we could tell she had a passion for all things opera. Would highly recommend!

This was a wonderful building to see. The architecture is beautiful. We had an opportunity to talk with a guard outside about this place. As it was a weekend, we ere unable to go inside. Would have liked to see inside. Was very clos to the Flower Market in town, spent an hour wandering the stalls. Had fun

I attended a performance of Werther in January 2006. Every date was sold out, but I was able to buy a ticket in the lobby from a lady who could not use hers (regular price). Performance was superb, but opera house is very old - my seat was one of six in a second-story loge - visibility poor but accoustics fine. My neighbour, a charming French lady, said that considering the age of the opera house the prices were "scandaleux"!
Would go again but would reserve a (good) seat months ahead in a decent section (I paid 73 euros for my mediocre seat.)

A great romantic night with the symphony. If you are a couple you can have a nice dinner afterwards (4pm - 6pm performance). The red velvet. high ceilings and ambiance was great. Cheap prices. Tip - Get the box seats on the extreme left or right for cheap, but they are great seats.

Found the Opera House on our first evening walk by the Flower Market - very friendly staff and a lovely evening programme with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra - it was the Nice carnival season so a packed house for the performance - an excellent evening out.

I went to Opera de Nice for a short concert, including the works of Bizet, Verdi etc. Besides the quality of the music, I was happy to discover that students always pay 5 euro, no matter the "real price". I find it really motivating to come back at least once per month. However, apparently I was still the only student.

Usually you would think the ballet to be a serene experience; lovely music, wonderful dance. But not in this case! The Nice Opera House is a beautiful building and holds some terrific performances, but some of the patrons leave much to be desired. If you decide to attend, think carefully where you will be seated. Anything in the cheap seats requires you to 'share' and if you have patrons who a) arrive late and b) begin to argue that others have taken their seats, the experience becomes much less enjoyable for those around them, who have paid for a pleasant evening's entertainment. The ushers are young people who obviously have no interest in doing their jobs, outside of seating you before the performance. Perhaps they could spend their time keeping those patrons, who are not on time, outside the performance hall, until the intermission.

I'm definitely an opera lover and never miss an opportunity to visit a new opera house.
My experience at Opéra de Nice was great: my husband and I have been there twice during this visit: first, for attending the performance of the French Opéra La Juive, by French composer Halévy; second, for a Gala Night.
The building is gorgeous, located in the Old Nice. Don't miss it!
