The buildings are quintessential Mediterranean, and the area is rich with history and culture. The area feels safe, and there are so many great restaurants and shops in which to eat and peruse... There are four old cathedrals to explore within about a square half-mile,...More
We did a LOT of walking through and into Old Town, and loved it. Very walkable area, with tons of shops and restaurants. Not everything was open while we were there, as it was out of season. We liked the fact it wasn't as crowded,...More
So glad we took time to wander through these streets of pretty shops and stylish restaurants! My favourite: Maison Auer, a gem of a shop with beautiful displays of candied fruit, chocolate, jams - great for gifts to take home.

A must-see when in Nice. Quaint streets, packed with tourists. Traditional old buildings, very close to one another, small shops, souvenirs less expensive than in the vicinity of the grand hotels. Loved the markets. Plenty of restaurants, quite pricey, but you get used to this.

You can get a ticket for the bus from a travel desk in the airport itself. It costs six Euros and departs from the bus stand no. 5. The number of the bus is 98. It will take you from the airport right along the seafront and into Nice. Get off at Albert 1er next to the merry-go-round in the park and you're two minutes walk away from the old town, entering via the Cours Saleya.
