This historic part of Nice feels like a medieval village with narrow streets curving between old buildings with red-tile roofs, small restaurants and open-markets.

This is certainly a must-see part of being in Nice, but as the years go by, the old Provencal restaurants and shops are being replaced with boutiques and restaurants that you might find most anywhere in Europe. The old town is becoming gentrified quickly, and as a result, it is losing its unique character. Still worth seeing and exploring for... More

Lots of cute shops, cafes and restaurants down little winding alleys. Very atmospheric. The highlights are the nougat shop, the lavender shop, and the old Cathedral square.

Staying in old town is very convenient to shopping and the beach not to mention the quaintness of being in this ancient part of the city. Shops and restaurants cater to tourists and the merchants and wine dealers are very helpful! Make sure to say bonjour when you enter and merci when you leave. Politeness goes a long way in... More

We fell in love with Nice. Went there in May after visiting Paris. The weather was amazing in Nice compared to gloomy Paris at that time. Staying in Nice for 3 days was an enjoyable experience. We walked at night in Old Nice (Vieux Nice). There are a lot of icecream shops, restaurants and pubs in its narrow old streets.

Of course you have to check the old town if you are in Nice😔although my daughter had a very unpleasant experience just a week before the tragedy at the Promenade happened but in every places you go to you must take precautions and you must always make sure that you bring less when you go to the market and you... Not much more than a small collection of streets, largely pedestrianised for the most part. Plays host to many small independent business's, restaurants and shops. Worth a visit. I'm

It was our first time to Ville Franche but goodness, I'll be back. This typical French style village is breath taking. From the hilly cobbled streets, the traditional shutter style houses and the breath taking views from every which way - it's hard not to love it. There are a few cobbled or shingle beaches away from the main area... More

We have been in Nice for over two days and have visited the old town a couple of times. The atmosphere in the narrow winding streets of the old town was terrific and investigating our way through the shops, markets and restaurants was very enjoyable. A must do if you have some time available.

The heart of the town has been restored and is looking lovely, as are some of the side streets. Some of the old buildings are still there and I their original various colours usually yellow, orange or even red. All charming though faded at the edges with some not so nice new additions.

Like many cities' old towns this is a cross crossing warren of roads, alleys, and walkways which are crowded with tourists - and the people who live their. It's fascinating and a good place to lose a morning ( and probably your sense of direction too). There's some good shopping to be had too
