This historic part of Nice feels like a medieval village with narrow streets curving between old buildings with red-tile roofs, small restaurants and open-markets.

This is a different world from the hustle and bustle of the modern town. The churches are well worth a look and it is a maze of little shops and side streets. It felt completely safe on a winters afternoon and you can certainly spend a good afternoon here stopping for coffees etc. at the numerous food outlets. It is... More

La Vieille Ville is so interesting and is a labyrinth of surprises! I enjoyed the authenticity of the small shops, local artisans, and of course, the food!

This is France as you imagined it should be. A million miles from Monaco glitz or Cannes fashion, this place is filled with the wonder of what France might have been like in the day. It's like Grasse without the perfume traps. Relatively untouched by the Maison secondaire set, the apartments are still draped with the mornings washing from their... More

Stroll through the Old Town at a slow pace. Enjoy the old architecture, eat lots of gelato and just breathe it all in. I could have done a photo essay on the colourful window shutters alone. There's so much life and lots of cheap eats if you get off the main streets. The most fun our 11 and 12 year... More

We visited Nice for 5 days following a disastrous Tauck river cruise. Thankfully Nice made good. We stayed on the beach and strolled daily on the promenade, for beach goers the private beach venues are terrific well priced and well appointed although there is plenty of public access as well.

The Old Town was my favorite part of Nice. All the narrow streets, restaurants, shops, markets, churches... I recommend putting away your map and just wandering around. Grab some gelato, people watch, and enjoy!

What an amazing part of the history, beautiful old cobble stone streets, lively old churches with so much history, a great view of the mountain and small shops galore...not to mention the market!!! Definitely something I would and could do again and again!!!

Lovely area with fab outdoor restaurants and flower market. Lovely quirky shops and also designer stuff too. Great for a coffee, lunch or people watching.

Couldn't get enough of the charming old town in Nice. The tiny alleys, shops, restaurants, squares, it was the picturesque and tasty experience we went to France to find. We ate the socca folks recommend, and found it quite skippable. The weird pirate-themed candy store cracked us up.

Walking through the Old Town day or night is always interesting and fun. Around every corner is a different shop, restaurant or even a little old bar. Best place to buy provencal soaps to take home.
