A lot of steps to climb but well worth it for a great view of Nice water front. If you can not manage the steps, there is a train which will take you up and down. At the top there is a large waterfall, a cafe, toilets and seating area to sit and relax with a drink.

No wonder there was such a display of athletic legs around the town-this is a great climb! Stunning views of the whole of the bay and some history thrown in

It was pretty hoax doring our stay on Nice and being recycled teenagers we did not fancy to walk up the stairs or paths to the castle. When we found out about the lift (acensure in French) we were delighted. Even more delighted when we found out it was free! The view from the top is breathtaking and the signage... More

The entrance looks like your walking into a subway station but at the end is a fully automatic lift which makes getting to the top easy and the entrance is just around the corner from the steps !

It is free and from the top you get amazing views down over Nice: over the rooftops of Old Nice, of the beaches on the Promenade des Anglais and the Bay des Anges and away westwards to the airport and on a clear day to the Esterel Hills. To the east down over the bustling Port of Nice, and way... More

Still good for your health to climb via an elevator although it seemed quite easy to access by tourist bus

A very nice spot to view Nice and the Mediterranean. Breathtaking views! There is a small concession stand with a seating area in the park on the top of the hill. We took a ride up the hill and walked down. The walk down the hill was very pleasant.

Breath taking views of Nice. Since I was there only for a couple of days I took a miniature train city tour which cost me just 10 euros and it included the ride up to castle hill along with a tour along Flower Market, Massena Square and the Old Town with decent commentary in English. But if you have plenty... More

Great views of Nice! We traveled there via the Le Petit Train De Nice. Up top there are parks, a bar restaurant and great views.

There is a free lift if you dont want to walk ... but you'll miss the views and the experience. Fine for young children and plenty of stops on the way up. Cafe at the top and children's play area. You have to pay for toilets at the top. You can walk down the other side to the marina ...... More
