Was told by hotel employee this was excellent – ok more like it
The reality is this is a pretty small palace with mediocre frescoes on walls & ceilings, at best. Exhibits of musical instruments are limited, but okay. They had musicians playing, due to Mars de Musees festival and it was all free. Still, we enjoyed it. Just set your expectations low and then you may be pleasantly surprised. Ditto for most tourist places in Nice. Nonetheless, overall, it is a wonderful place to visit. In fact, if you want to have a nice relaxing place to vacation, Nice and the Cote D’Azur are hard to beat. It’s probably a great place to retire to, as well. Try it. You will like it.

    Musical Instruments Museum
Named after the family which owned it back in 17th century (until 1802), this palace located in the old town part of Nice serves today as a musical instruments museum. There are also temporary art exhibitions from time to time. It's a nice attraction both for musical instrument enthusiasts and old building fans. It takes around 2 hours to visit it. As it is located in the old town (meaning in a narrow street), there is no way to access it by car, beware of that.

    Interesting museum
This museum has a lot to offer and is likely overlooked by people passing by. We were lucky to stumble upon it. The home is magnificent on its own. When we were there, we were able to see a musical instruments exhibit and an art exhibit, both of which were interesting and enjoyable to learn about. The staff are very friendly and talkative, which helps to make the experience enjoyable as well.

What a beautiful building! A nice place to cool off and enjoy this little palace. It is even better to take the time to see this with a guide to hear the story of how they lived in the old times. There was a show on by Odon, amazing how the colors of his art worked with the furniture and paintings. Loved it!

Visiting the Palais Lascaris was kind of interesting. There were not so many people around so we had chance to see the historical instruments properly.
The collection of items was superb but the whole atmosphere of the building was little depressing, but this was baroque style.

This isn't a large museum. but the frescoes on the ceilings were amazing. There was a large collection of musical instruments here too. It was 5 Euro per person which was well worth the price just to see the amazing ceilings in the residence.

English version:

This museum tucked away at a quite alleyway in Vieux Nice boasts one of the most interesting collections and the building itself is a marvel. However as a East Asian traveler who had visited various Western European countries and was visiting France for the first time, something bewildering happened at the ticket counter which put my prospects in revisiting the country in doubt.

As we approached the lady at the counter with our Nice Museum Pass she gave almost no heed to us, swiping the tickets while chatting with a Frenchman enthusiastically. Less than a minute later as we were about to enter the adjacent room of exhibits we were promptly greeted with the exclamation “not free! Not free!” by the lady who came to us gesturing for the tickets. We were mystified but show her the tickets nonetheless.

What truly infuriated us was that less than ten minutes later as we were ascending the staircases she came to us again exclaiming “not free” and asked for the tickets again, apparently oblivious to the earlier encounters. She would not barge under our explanation in English until our Museum pass was shown to her for the THIRD time.

We ended up spending around an hour in the museum while none of the other visitors were actively approached in such a way that left us feeling harassed and borderline criminalized. We’ve spent countless hours in the museums of other countries and never had that happening.

As a heads up for future visitors: the museum itself is well worth a visit provided that you look “right” for the place. We were still wondering if a East Asian face is that difficult to pick up or are we still haunted by the apparition of White Supremacy in 2019.

Some fascinating antique musical intruments and preserved architectural detail, but a pretty limited scope of interest here. An interesting half hour or so during a casual walking tour of the area.

This is a real 17th century town house, and simply beautiful. A magnificent staircase takes you up to intimate rooms, some with their original wood panelling and stucco work. On the ground floor near the entrance is a meticulously preserved apothecary's shop dating form the seventeenth century.

Now a museum, open daily, apart from Tuesdays, this wonderful aristocratic palace (or large mansion house) is worth making a detour to. Situated at 15 Rue Droite, entrance is free. You step back in time and at will be amazed at all the luxurious decor which includes panels, tapestries, paintings, ornaments and musical instruments. 1/2 an hour should be sufficient as it is not huge, although sometimes they have special exhibitions within the palace which, if you are interested in, may take a bit longer. The staircase and 18thC pharmacy, both on the ground floor, should be viewed even if you have no desire to go in any further.
