Great place to people watch and see the entertainers performing both during the day and evening. At night this place comes alive with all the buildings lit up and the beautiful fountain in the square. Loved this vibrant city of Nice.

This is an unusually large, open area with sculptures and shops, cafes and architecture. Don't need a long time here to appreciate it. Either take some photos or sit down and watch the world pass you by.

Beautiful square near to shopping district and also the old town. Very wide and spacious and modern and doesn’t seem crowded, even when busy. A dance group had part of the square cordoned off for themselves and a big happy crowd.
Good for people watching.

Place Massena is right in the city center, connected to the pedestrian zone and only 5 minutes by walk from the Old Town and the seafront.
From here you can walk in any direction and find restaurants, shops or landmarks.
It is also very common to find street artists and performances here.
We suggest you to visit this beautiful square and to have a walk around the surrounding streets.

Place Messina is a gleamingly beautiful large plaza with black and white tiles in a geometric pattern. It borders the old town and the "new town" shopping areas. It's got odd sculptures that are lit at night on top of posts which adds a unique look, and a cool fountain of Posiden. It's wonderful for people watching.

Large square surrounded by eateries and shops. to one end is Gallery Lafayette that had some magical automaton Christmas display window dressings that entertained children for ages and also hosts to one end the massive Christmas market that not only has commercial handicrafts stalls but food by the shed full. From Tartiflette to melting Raclette and many varieties of sausage and Socca plus kids roundabouts and other entertainments, Christmas magic.

Busy area in central Nice. Many colorful old buildings with numerous intersecting streets. Cars, buses, trams all seem to converge in this area. At the time of my visit (early February), they were in the process of setting up grandstands and stages for the upcoming Carnival.

This beautiful large square is definitely a crowd pleaser for both tourists as well as locals. A lovely place for a stroll or to sit and visit with fun fountains to please those of all ages. A terrific spot to visit, the main square of Nice.

Nice square close to old town. Worth visiting if nearby, but not worth a special trip. Open square with nice painted buildings and parks on each side, that's it.

Massive public square in the heart of Nice with distinctive white and black tiles. Surrounded by attractive red-colored buildings with the Fountaine du Soleil (Sun Fountain) as its focal point. Dozens of shops, restaurants and bars fill the area. Very attractive night and day. Nice's main square also serves as a transportation hub.
