It is so Russian!

I know it is the RUSSIAN orthodox Cathedral but I was surprised at just how Russian it was. We arrived as a baptism of a baby was finishing, all conducted in Ruassian. After it... read more

We walked to this church, about a 20 min walk, although it felt longer in the heat. The walk through those parts of Nice wasn't very nice, and there is not much else around the Church. While it is pretty, if your short on time, and not that into churches, I'd skip this for other parts of Nice.

We were absolutely amazed by this beautiful building which is situated a little off the beaten track in Nice but well worth finding. We visited on a Saturday evening as a service was underway and were able to hear the choir singing which was amazing. The interior is even more beautiful than the exterior; stunning!

The exterior of the Cathedral is so unusual and it's very random to find it in the middle of a residential area- especially in France as it's not French in style at all. Lovely to walk around inside and out. If you are in skimpy clothes they will ask you to cover up with shawls they provide.

I know it is the RUSSIAN orthodox Cathedral but I was surprised at just how Russian it was. We arrived as a baptism of a baby was finishing, all conducted in Ruassian. After it had finished we explored a little. It feels very different to Western Cathedral with no nave and an enclosed sanctuary behind a beautiful golden screen. The... More

Most know this as the Russian church in Nice, it is the St. Nicholas orthodox Cathedral that opened its doors in 1912. Looks like this stunning church was built yesterday. It is beautiful inside and out and holds many traditional functions. This is very close to the main train station in Nice and entrance is free. Souvenirs on site.

When the truck attack closed all the museums the next day, the Russian cathedral was one of the few places open. It turned out that they were having a special service for one of the victims of the previous night. We've visited orthodox cathedrals in Russia, but this cathedral is still worth a stop though hard to find the entrance.

A short walk from the train station and you'll find a small piece of Russia in Nice. The cathedral is well maintained, looks like it was newly renovated. Amazing outside and inside (but I'm not a big fan of those icons).

It's not in the center, but for travellers like me it's not far too.I enjoyed walking through the part of the city which is not so touristy and when I found the church I was impressed.I still haven't visited Russia and cannot compare this cathedral to the ones over there, but for this one I can say that it's beautiful. Inside it... More
