If you want a personable and knowledgeable cycling guide in the vicinity of Nice, you cannot do better than Nick Marshall. He is more interested in finding you the right bike and the right route for you than anything else.
The options for climbing up the nearby mountains and for seeing wonderful scenery are difficult to beat.

Nick brought us on four rides in and around Nice; each day was just as beautiful and challenging as the last. My husband is a bit more of a cyclist than I (umm, yeah) so Nick took him out first to challenge him and then they met me for a couple of hours. He is an elite athlete who understands all fitness levels and was able to plan rides that were challenging but left us feeling great. And when I needed it the most, he calmly rode next to me and coached up to a magnificent view over Monaco. We will be back and we will definitely look Nick up.
P.s. we also plan on checking out his bike fitting services. Thanks Nick!

I found Mountain Cycling Tours on a Google Map search for Cycling in Nice, Fr. Nick was super helpful in recommending a couple of places to rent a bike and gear. While I was not in the proper condition for hitting the roads for a long workout, he put together a scenic ride with a few challenging climbs. He was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out several historical landmarks along the way. Highly recommend looking him up if you find yourself in or around Nice!

Thank You Pete! That was definitely a standout ride for me too :-)
That climb from Monaco with sea views is my favorite, then over to the valley looking towards the Italian Alps was a great way to finish.
Hope to see you again soon.

Nick was fantastic, there were four in our group - three twenty something's and me - a tad older (well, fifties), two of us hadn't used clips before so Nick's unending patience and calmness were really appreciated. He met us at the shop where we picked up the bikes (Wifi gears, honestly) and got us sorted out, he led us through the traffic out of Nice and into the hills. We weren't the fastest group but we still managed two 2000ft climbs before heading back down the valley to Nice. Berres les Alpes was a tiny village at the top of one climb (see pics), very quiet and it had a coffee shop - perfect! Nick is obviously a very serious cyclist himself and is immensely knowledgeable on cycling and fitness, but he was happy to drop down a few gears and put up with us lot for half the day, suffice it to say we all had a great day and we learned a lot! if you want a cycling experience that you really won't forget, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Nick as the perfect guide.

Nick put me on the bio-bike for a quick riding technique and fitting session and then we headed off for a day of cycling from Nice across to Italy. Nick knew some fabulous routes away from traffic and was very informative along the way with lots of cycling race info about the pro routes in the area. Great to wrap it up with a late lunch on the beach in Italy.

Found Nick on TripAdvisor...was super responsive and reasonably priced. We met at a rad bike shop in Nice where I rented a road bike and helmet and then quickly took off up a challenging ascent up and around Nice/Monaco.
Views were spectacular! Nick was knowledgeable about the area and historical significance. If you are looking for a challenging, fun road ride...look no further!

Nick is a terrific trainer. He tailors your program to you. He's encouraging. He takes a holistic approach. He's also got some clever ideas about how to get the best out of your body, whatever your age and fitness. (I'm a 60 something recreational cyclist, fit, but by no means a competitor.) Nick's coaching helped me reach my performance objective -- a climb I had found impossible to get up. Just as importantly, he laid down a foundation for me to continue to progress. Plus, he's a heck of nice guy to work with.

I had one of my best days cycling through the mountains outside of Nice with Nick. Nick is an experienced and energetic guide. He listened to my background and what I was looking to get out of the day and came up with a route and itinerary that fit my guidelines perfectly. Not only did he know the roads but he has experience in cycling training and performance so he was able to give me helpful tips along the way. Nick thought of every detail to help make the day a success- from which cafe to stop at to buy lunch, to the perfect lookout spot for a picture, and where to stop for a quick break. The route was challenging and beautiful, and it was a pleasure spending the time with Nick as well. He would be great for guiding someone like myself looking for a big ride in the mountains, or for a couple or group just looking to see more of the area and get some exercise.

I like to meet at Café du Cycliste at the Nice Port as much as possible due to their excellent facilities, bike hire and coffee!
If you are staying at a distance from Nice then we can meet at your residence.

Yes, bike hire for a tour is available from Café du Cycliste and Le Bike Butler.
Both are English-speaking with hotel delivery available from Le Bike Butler.
The bikes are new, light and comfortable - very important for our region!
