Three Rubens in one Cathedral! One reviewer remarked that they will not forget this church, well, neither will I. It is unique and beautiful. The dark walls and ceiling from days gone by is striking as a contrast to nice stained glass and the three Ruben paintings along one wall. Please go...

Our guide made sure we visited this cathedral, yet from the outside it is hardly exceptional..When we were told that the cathedral was used to house the fodder for horses during the French Revolution and that a fire blackened the walls the dark interior started to make sense. But then we saw the beautiful paintings.....three wonderful Rubens, along with magnificent stations of the cross, and saintly relicsI It is a step back to midieval times. This is a "must see "

As I get easily impressed by old constructions and see this magnificent building in Grasse with its Ruebens paintings on the walls, allways light lit, you do not even have to be religious to enjoy visiting, just behind the Cathedral there is a viewpoint and in July August you can also enjoy a "Perfumed siesta" on the square

The cathedral appears to be well-maintained, but has little charm inside — so dark that only one stained glass window let is the light.

Beautiful cathedral with Rubens! Architecture and art all in one! Such a beautiful and serene place. So happy we made the trip - even if we did have to maneuver the rental car on the narrow, winding streets and then go through a hail storm in the mountains afterwards!

A wonderful piece of history. Simplistic and sincere, and with three unbelieavable paintings by RUBENS hanging there to be admired freely by all. Just a knock out! This is a real gem. I visit each time I’m in Grasse, and that is at least once a year. One of my favourite churches.
Grasse has also improved a lot during the last years. The old town has been spruced up, and I love the athmosphere, architecture and views there.

We stopped to visit in the early morning and it was filling up fast with parrisioners coming for mass. it is a small but very pretty and authentic every day church that serves the people of this town and tourists coming for mass.It is simple yet elegant in its own way. Stop in and light a candle. it is in the middle of quite frankly tourist shopping streets and alleys.

We came upon this cathedral, which isn't located where you would automatically go, by good fortune. It's interior is a massive stone construction where you would expect to find ornate paintings etc. It is rustic, original and from the 1300s.
Having seen hundreds of churches across Europe, this one is unique.

The cathedral has survived many events. Bell tower has been struck many times by lightning. During French Revolution church was turned in fodder storehouse. In 1795 massive fire damages pillars stones. Cannon ball marks from siege of 1589 seen on west front.
Cathedral built in white chalk stone. Lateral walls do not have buttresses but are almost 2 meters wide. The 12 cylindrical pillars on the sides recall that church was built on faith statement of 12 apostles. There are three paintings from Rubens that adorn Church - "The Thorn Coronation", "Sainte Helene", and "The Foundation of the Cross" have been in the cathedral since 1972 and were a gift from local hospital.

This is an incredible church. Dark and foreboding. It kind of sums up the way religion was seen and experienced during the time of it's construction. Almost black granite walls throughout. I have visited many churches on my travels and this one will stand out in my memory.
