I`m not particularily fond of this type touristic market but Marche provencal is unexpectingly good & pulls it off by offering a wide selection of quality local produce. Of course there are the Provencal lavender standard products but aside from that there is everything from veggies, olive oil, spices & flowers to sur la place crepe. Lovely roof-covered market resembling a smaller version of a train station for the rare occasion of bad weather. Not a big place but you`ll easily spend a few hours here if also including something to eat & drink on the nearby square or side alleys.

This was recommended by out your guide and we enjoyed a walk through the busy stalls crammed with gorgeous fresh produce . Everything local and home produced , stark contrast to our mass produced , all look the same fruit and veg back home . The local farmers simply pick that morning and sell same day , all looked vibrant and appetising.

Definitely worth a visit when one is in the area but since it is touristy, it is always busy!
From June to August it is Point of Sale every day from 6am to 1.45pm
Outside these months, there is no Point of Sale on Monday, other days from 6am to 1pm

The market itself is beautiful with a wide variety of local produce. Most stalls are there at the weekends. However, be careful when you buy cheese at "Fromagerie D Exc"!! We opted for a quite expensive cheese and only realised later that it expired one month ago!! Not acceptable!
Try the Socca which is a speciality made of chickpeas and olive oil. It comes straight out of their mobile oven and is best eaten warm.

already the products are overpriced in the window, when we go to the checkout, I don't know why but we gain added value by changing the salesperson
I bought two panisses, marked 4.30 euros on the package, I paid 5.16 euros at checkout, why 0.86 more? mystery. when I buy them near me I pay 2.66 euros for them, look for the mistake!
the ravioli are bland, the stuffings don't tempt you and everything else is fine
far too expensive
I, who am from Antibes, having known the real Perrin house, there is nothing to see, to avoid

This very pleasant Provençal market is an integral part of old Antibes. It is a necessary crossing point between the port, the ramparts, the pedestrian streets, and various shops. Sometimes more for the walk than for shopping. A few craftsmen depending on the day, purchases of a few mosaics a few years ago. A very nice absinthe business. Great mid-season. Afterwards, products such as soaps, oils, etc. are not necessarily from the region....

The place is just magnificent for a tourist.
But the prices are really outrageous for everyday customers.
I hope for them that they have prices that match the customer's face because otherwise you have to be rich to shop there.
I even have doubts about the origin of the olives on the two market stands.
Yes we are on vacation and yes we helped buy local cheeses and fish.
The products are very good but once a year for us.

This fantastic outdoor market serves as an attractive centerpiece for the lovely coastal town of Antibes. The relatively small market is packed full of local treasures including wine, fresh produce, meats, canned goods and arts & crafts. We purchased some wine for later consumption and it was incredible! We found the merchants to be quite engaging and polite. As a bonus, there are free public restrooms located conveniently across the street from the market. While in Antibes, this is simply a must see feature of this gorgeous small town.

One of the best open markets in Provence. When tourist season kicks up it probably gets more crowded, but in April there was plenty of space for us to do our daily fruit shopping and practice my french. Plus, it's a great site to sit with a tea & people watch . . .

A large collection of vendors offering local produce, fruits, meats, and cheeses. There were also displays of a wide variety of spices, and shops selling an extensive collection of seafood.
I suspect a very large portion of their sales are to tourists..

We are going to JLP and would like to visite Antibes.Anyone know which day they have markets and how is the best way to travel ( bus train)?
Thanks

It's every day ! Best thing is the TER (regional) trains run very regularly. It's a short walk to town. May I suggest walking along the port and take in all the beautiful yachts ? Then enter Antibes through the big stone wall. Have fun !

Hi,
We are going for 2 weeks to Antibes (here we are likely to mostly cook at home) and wanted to see if you have other recommendations for food shopping. Would you have suggestions other than Marche Provincal?
Thank you very much
