The route above starts and finishes at THE Castle Pub in Chateauneuf, conveniently it is situated directly across the road from the Road to Gourdon. On your way to Goirdon the scenery and views get increasingly dramatic until you reach Gourdon itself. Park your vehicle and take a walk around this lovely village with its narrow streets and incredible views... More

Great place for a day out. Try to go out of the high-season. Lots of great placves to eat, but most importantly the views are stunning.

If you liked St-Paul De Vence, spend an hour or so climbing to this quaint (a bit out-of-the-way) village nestled in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean. Less commercial than St-Paul with several amazing shops and excellent restaurants. Getting there is half the fun. The road winds its way thru the foothills. The views are breath-taking ... the river gorge spectacular... More

This is a beautiful old village perche. It has classic narrow cobblestone roads, lovely shops and restaurants. Be sure to grab a seat at the restaurant overlooking the valley. You can see the Mediterranean Sea as you sip wine and enjoy the warm chevre salad.

A short, but windy drive from the baie de anges is this beautiful hill top town. Plenty of free parking removes one worry and a short easy stroll into the narrow winding streets past soap vendors and perfumeries. Plenty of street art and old stills on display show its history. It's greatest attraction though as you walk through is the... More

Living only 40 minutes away from this spectacular mountaintop village, it is the place to which I insist on taking visiting friends. Gourdon is charming, the view over the valley and out to sea is not to be equaled. Local shops have good art, souvenirs, scrumptious spice cake and affable proprietors. If you're staying somewhere on the coast between Nice... More

As many have noted Gourdon offers spectacular views and is small. You can walk around it at a very leisurely pace in 30-45 minutes. It has a few touristy shops but no native craft like violets in Tourrettes sur Loup, another nearby hilltop village. To make the most of a trip to Gourdon, you can combine it with Grasse and... Compared to other "Les plus beaux villages" I've visited, this was rather disappointing because it is so small. But it made up for it because the views all the way down to the sea are amazing and the great hill walks all around are well worth doing. If you do the walks, make sure you are wearing proper walking boots... More
