Sunday Flea Market

If you love flea markets you will love this one. Loads of stuff every week, lots of stalls, great location under the plane trees. Took us 3 hours to get through it all.

Large enough to keep you going - clothes, food, material, musical instruments, soaps, honey, etc. It is all there and great fun to wander around. It will be all over by lunchtime so make sure you get there earlyish. Parking can be a problem, although we have always managed to find something.

Fantastic market a riot of colour, smell and sound. Beautiful fruit and veg. Spicy chicken to eat there and then. Lavender in abundance. Local pottery for sale. Buskers and lovely cafes to sit back and watch it all going on.

Friday is the day for the market. The main problem is finding a parking space, so best to arrive early. Free parking at Coulée Verte or La Roseraie. This is a market on a grand scale that takes over most of the centre of Carpentras. You need time to wander and take it all in. If you have the energy,... More

We were attracted by the truffles offered for sale at this market. As you are aware truffles are not cheap but we decided to buy a few as a treat. The woman at one of the stalls selected a few for us. When we went to prepare them for dinner one was very spongy and had a terrible smell. It... More

The streets of the market wander to and fro forever. It is easy to lose your way and your life savings as soooo much tempts you to buy. Plan for several hours and enjoy.

. Vaucluse, the region is the gateway to the magical limestone-capped Mont Ventoux and the happiest most diverse market of Carpentras. Its a flea market, well within an easy drive of an hour to Saint-Remy. You walk the plane-tree lined drive called Jean Jaures, amidst an ecletic crowd that come from all over Provence. There is no way you can... More

A market that sells everything and appears to take over the entire centre but does not detract from the existing shops. The market winds through the interlinked streets and because it is busy, it is easy to forget to look around and absorb the historic architecture and vibe of the place. I would recommend sitting down outside at one of... More
