We had a pleasant day and a half tour with Evelyn that included a lot of surrounding area around Avignon including Pont du Gard, Arles, Saint Remy and Uzes. That was all great. But we wanted to tour the main attraction in Avignon, the popes palace and the guide knew virtually nothing about that.

Hi Pawdy, Thank you so much for your kind words about your trip to Pont du Gard, Arles, St. Remy and Uzes! I'm delighted to know that you had a great experience and I'll be sure and forward your comments to Evelyn. It's with this said, the Palais des Papes, much like other national monuments, has very strict rules that limit what external guides that accompany visitors can explain. All of the guides in our association are local members who love our region and volunteer their time to accompany and share their passion with individuals such as yourself. Again, thank you so much for your feedback! Amistats ("All my best" in the language of Provence, Occitan), David

While staying in Avignon, I coordinated two days of wine tasting for 4 of us, with a day in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and the other in the Vacqueyras/Gigondas region. Evelyn was our guide for both days and we found her absolutely lovely. I searched quite a few different guides, and this was by far the least expensive option. Evelyn made a few appointments, but also left some free time for additional choices. With wine tours in the past, I feel they only take you where they receive a kick-back, and this was not the case at all. The communication with David in advance was very easy, and Evelyn was very knowledgeable on the history of the region so we were able to ask lots of questions. I would easily return and hire Evelyn again. I highly recommend this organization.

It is impossible to recommend this group too highly. Although the price of a day tour is not insignificant, we wanted to cover the sights in Provence that the formal tour we were joining in a couple of days would not cover. Evelyn Matheson was our guide and did a superb job finding lovely gardens and lavender fields and historical sights throughout the countryside plus an excellent restaurant in Gordes for lunch. Evelyn was a wonderful companion, in addition to being highly knowledgeable about things Provencal -- and she is an excellent driver as well. Our value received for the money we spent was 100%,

For 4 of our 5 days in Provence (October 2013) we used trains and buses to visit towns surrounding Arles. On the 5th day, we used Imagine Tours to guide us to other places less accessible by public transportation. Working with David and Evelyn, we generated a plan that was to include Les Baux, St. Remy, Carpentras and Pont du Gard. Evelyn offered to meet with us the day before our trip, but since the itinerary was agreed upon we felt that was unnecessary. She picked us up at our hotel in Arles precisely at 8:30 AM and had planned a surprise visit to Carrieres de Lumiere on the way to Les Baux. However, we arrived before the scheduled opening and waiting would have jeopardized the rest of the trip, so we moved on. Evelyn was very effective in arranging a visit to the synagogue in Carpentras, getting us there in plenty of time to meet with Mme. Levy to learn more about the history and present day activities of the synagogue. Also, since Friday was market day in Carpentras, we gladly spent the time walking through the outdoor stalls. Next stop was St. Remy, with a visit to Joel Durand's Chocolate shop for some excellent candies and a tour in St. Remy's mental hospital where Van Gogh painted as part of the treatment for his illness. It was followed in nearby Glanum to see the beautifully preserved ancient Roman mausoleum and arch. There was a rain shower during the early afternoon and the extra time spent on wet roads and at the sites caused us to eliminate the visit to Pont du Gard. On the return to Arles, Evelyn again stopped at Carrieres de Lumiere, but it was about to close for the day and they would not allow our visit. In hindsight, we should have taken Evelyn's offer of a pre-tour meeting to coordinate our desires and factor in the road conditions and open-close times. She has access to two vehicles and we suggest you coordinate which of the two you feel most comfortable riding in. While there were some let-downs, we felt the day was well spent, with a better understanding and appreciation of this great region.
