Beautiful Rue de la Republique runs through Centre-Ville to the Popes Palace and Place de l'Horloge. There are a number of places to enjoy outdoor dining and this street is wonderful for walking.

This is the main street of historic Avignon within the wall, with the usual array of shops and eateries, with gare Avignon center(train station)at one end of the street and a pleather of restaurants at the other.

This was the main shopping street in Avignon with the usual array of chains plus a decent sized Monoprix and a smaller Carrefour. There are also a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants.

Rue Republique has a little of everything..sidewalk cafes to Lush shop and Carrefour groceries. High end and reasonably priced stores..not to much tourist trinkets. Side streets offer great buys and local fair. BlaBlaBlas on Des Lices prcious store with unique items

Nice, well maintained bouvelard (a little construction going on by the train station), but overall a main street for walking through the heart of town. Lots of restaurants, shops, supermarkets, cafes, etc.

This is a good starting point to visit Avignon. Plus its got huge numbers of restaurants and coffee places. A bit touristy but thats the usual way

A very busy thoroughfare with grand architecture on either side, lined with shops and restaurants. An easy walk down here takes you to the local train station.

A nice shopping street with some good options. In the end you will find a tourist office that is well equiped.

You can actually walk this entire street with rolling luggage, (many people do it), from the train station, past the Post Office, past all kinds of shops and bakeries, to the main town square, and dead end at the Palais du Papes. It's not that...More

If walking towards the Palace then try the little streets off to the right. This is the old town shopping area that has a little more caricature.
