Beautiful City Hall

Beautiful build for the City Hall in the classic style. It is enhanced by columns and flags of the country and the city. Looks very elegant in the place where it's located.

I like the variety of architecture you find in the city halls around France. Always interesting, if occasionally overdone. With its location proximate to the Pope's Palace, you can't miss it.

This is an impressive building on one side of the Place de l'Horloge, and which is still clearly used for administrative purposes. We thought about trying to get inside, but were quickly dissuaded by the heavy police security immediately inside the door. Consequently all we could do was admire the exterior. Behind, and above the building, is the tower containing... More

This is a beautiful building steeped in history. We were fortunate to have had some assistance educating us on the historical perspectives. This is a lovely building and well worth the visit.

Hotel de Ville is located in the busy, central square of Avignon. There are lots of nearby restaurants and other beautiful buildings. I didn't try to go inside but I doubt they want tourists wandering around in there. Free to look at.

Avignon’s Hotel de Ville is located next to the Opera Theatre d'Avignon on the Place de l'Horlage. Being situated on the most important square of the city’s historic center insures that it will be seen by hordes of tourists. I didn’t get inside the Hotel de Ville, but I got some nice photos of this big, handsome building. I regret... More

Although the name Hotel de Ville suggests a hotel, our tour guide told us that it is now the Town Hall. It is a lovely building with ornate architecture. The many cafes and restaurants in the square give you the opportunity to have a drink or snack and sit and admire.

We were amused to learn from our guide in Avignon that Hotel de Ville is actually City Hall. Yes, you can learn a lot when you travel.

This is a very nice building next to the Merry Go Round. There is many restaurants to pick from. There is plenty of tourists around to keep you entertained.

The Hotel de Ville means town hall in French. It is a beautiful structure that looks particularly beautiful at nite when lit. Nice photo op. It is on a big plaza that has a carousel and is bustling with restaurants and out door cafes. Go and enjoy the atmosphere, food and people watching.
