A little oasis of calm amidst the buzzing centre of Arles with beautifully maintained flower beds. Used to be a hospital.

It was a surprise and revelation to fid this place of art and learning in a beautiful new building in the center of the old medieval town of Arles. The first and second floor is dedicated to the revered artist whose life and style turned around when he had discovered Provence. The 3rd floor is dedicated to exhibitions of modern artists... More

The Espace Van Gogh or the courtyard of the Hotel Dieu where Van Gogh spent sometime in this hospital after he self- inflicted injury. The courtyard resemblance to the Van Gogh's painting however part of the space is used as souvenir shops. The other attraction was the restaurant he painted and the owner painstakingly kept the facade in line with... More

Lesson learned and a good reminder that in Provence and Spain and a number of other places in this part of the... More

Great space and exhibition. There was a photo exhibition on which was interesting. The gardens are nice, but small, few shops.

I love Van Gogh. How better can it get than to stand in the same actual garden that he enshrined in his famous painting? There is a very nice casual place to eat within the walls facing to the garden. Peaceful and tranquil. There is a bit of renovation work underway currently, but it is not enough to cause a... More

Thanks for a wonderful insight into the fascinating and tragic life of Vincent van Gough. This museum, galley and library is a modern local tribute to this artist who lived and painted in the area just before his death. Many of his painting depicted local landmarks, but sadly not many are actually on permanent display in this galley. Still a... More
