If you know someone who lives in Arles you may be able to get free or reduced admission. It helps to know a fair amount of French as most of the exhibits are explained only in their native language.

Featuring artifacts and remains largely from the Roman period in Arles, this museum is small and doable in an hour (especially if you don't speak French - almost all of the displays are solely in French). The section on the recovered barge (which is enormous) is terrific and also in English and Italian. That alone made it worth it. They... More

This was one of the highlights of our recent trip to France. It has a remarkable collection of locally sourced Roman artifacts. Spacious and clean, it is packed with local Roman history. The barge and the accompanying film are a highlight! I would recommend walking from the main part of Arles as it is great way to see the town

Great artifacts, beautiful presentation, and interesting info on each artifact. Easy to find museum, not crowded. The ancient boat is amazing!

The museum is small, but has a remarkable collection. The Roman barge alone is worth the trip. The mosaics are also quite impressive.

This museum is in a modern, blue box of a building, away from the historic sites in Arles. But it is so interesting, you should go for a couple of hours to see the extensive collection of Roman artifacts that are unbelievably well preserved. There are several scale models that help you envision what Arles looked like in its heyday... More

Lovely interesting museum that has a lot to offer and things to see. It is mainly Roman things but tells you about the history of that city

This museum is located on the edge of town but was easy walking from City centre. As mentioned by other reviewers, be sure to get the museum pass which will get you into several other attractions on the same ticket - this is a real money saver. The Roman boat of course is the lead attraction and there is a... More

Very lightcore archeology. Big spaces for the kids to run around. Very cool. A bit disappointed with only French text, but in general, some things speak for themselves. Happy kids = happy father

We have been to many, this is one of the best. The quality of the artefacts are amazing - particularly the mosaics and the detail presented. The restored boat gives n insight to how they moved the heavy stones all those years ago - the number one must see in Arles
