This is significantly over rated. There is a house which looks nice from the outside. There is a charge of €3 to go in and it wasn’t worth the price with just 5 more or less empty rooms and a staircase (the best part) to see. The garden could be pleasant on a hot day as there is plenty of seating and shade although this being France you are not, of course, allowed on the grass.

The gardens totally neglected and with people sleeping on the benches outside. I wanted to change the clothes of my baby that had gotten wet and the staff literally threw me out of the museum. They made me change it outside in the cold of December

Superb private mansion. Any park in this season. Interesting interior with no temporary exhibition. I asked reception for the guestbook in order to leave a comment. Answer: the curator does not want it... For example: female genitals in lace... Unwelcome; in very bad taste... Exposure of faces: failed... Any... It seems that the curator has not yet woken up since May 68... Too bad! The places are better…

The garden is beautiful, but going inside is not worth it! Make sure to stroll around the garden only.

A beautiful 17th century house set in a lovely garden built by Louis de Mercoeur, Duc de Vendome, as a hideaway to carry on a love affair with Lucrece de-Forbin Sollies. Lucky girl - certainly an extravagant place for a bit of nooky!
Beautifully proportioned (the house, not the girl!) with stunning architecture and a lovely staircase. Most of the rooms are much as they would have been in the 18th century.
A fascinating place to visit, but sadly the ambience was partly spoiled by an exhibition of modern art, totally out of place, in several rooms.

I was all excited to see this beautiful house filled with its furniture and furnishings, as if the owners left a moment ago. Not. Even though it is described as containing furniture and such, it has a couple (two) dressers standing in bare rooms. They did have four restored periods paintings, badly displayed, that were notable for their ugliness. The outside of the house is absolutely charming and well worth the short walk from the center of town, and the garden is nice to sit in, too. Free toilet in the garden. It has been reimagined as a contemporary art gallery, and you can forget about that too. It's all about the facade here.

We didn`t visit the museum (closed on Tuesdays) but the gardens were a very popular place to chill out away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.

The Pavillon's rooms are a wee bit frayed round the edges, but this adds to their charm. Lovely architecture; the outside has been restored well. Gardens are beautifully tended, with the roses still going strong in November.

When I was staying in Aix-en-Provence, we were right down the street from the Pavillon de Vendome. We would often go there to sit and watch the French school children eating their lunches--all of. us enjoying the beauty of this pavillion.

The gardens are lovely. The house looks nice. Most of the art being exhibited in the house detracts from the building and grounds, although one piece was interesting. The attendant was very unpleasant -- a man who thought his only purpose was to collect fees impolitely.
