The views are gorgeous here and lovely place to have a picnic! We were there in the middle of the day, which can get quite hot, but there are tress with shady areas.

Impressive yet not overpowering as a geological landmark could be. It's surprises are the gems dotted around the mountain. Le Lac de Bimont created by the barage contains such clear turquoise waters within its limestone slopes. The views are incredible and it is such a tranquil place. For the more adventurous, one can ascend to the cross mounted high on... More

Drove along the route Cezanne and saw the mountain from all sides. Beautiful red cliffs along the road and great views. Fantastic place to hike if it is not too hot and dry.

Amazing views, very close to Aix-en-Provence. Nature and art, great food and fantastic wine. The scale of the mountain, full of secluded paths and amazing views.

I followed the instructions of a previous reviewer and took the bus (line140) to barrage de bismont. Take the right fork and keep walking until you reach a parking lot on your right and the dam on your left. Cross the dam wall and follow the blue markers. The trail is very well marked. It is beautiful from beginning to... More

There is an excellent view from the top, worth to go. We climb with yellow route, but this was quite difficult with some climbing, the red route is much more easy. Bring a lot of water in the summer.

We chose driving to this location as we wanted to go on a short drive from Aix-en-Provence to view the countryside. We drove to Barrage de Bimont (Bimont Dam) and had lovely views of the lake, dam, and mountain which has been painted by many artists including Cezanne. The drive is approximately 30 minutes with places to stop for a... More

We did this hike in June 2016. If you don't drive, taking the bus is the best way to reach the mountain from Aix. We took line 140 bus to the J2/barrage de bimont stop (which you have to tell the bus driver upon getting on as the stops are not well-marked). Once off the bus, continue walking on the... More
