Lovely museum, shame about the attitude and behaviour of staff.
Superb David Hockney exhibition in Musée Granet - lovely, characterful and well-laid out spaces in the museum itself. Very pleasant and helpful experience at the ticketing booth. However, one member of the museum staff needs extra training. I shall be making a formal complaint. It is disrespectful and unprofessional to shout to a visitor, "You are mad" and accompany this with other rudeness of manner. Perhaps the woman in question was having a bad day, but loud and aggressive reprimands for honest mistakes are unacceptable.

    Granet Museum Aix en Provenece
This museum is on two sites. We preferred the chapel site where there is a fantastic collection of paintings, including mainly works from the 20th century. They were collected by Jean Planque who knew many of the great artists of his time. The other site is ok but the standard is not as good.

    Marvellous musée
Spent an hour here on our Cezanne day. After visiting his studio and the places in town connected with him, it was great to come and see a few of his paintings. The museum is small but there is a terrific collection of antiquities, medieval and classical works. The museum is in the old town and in a lovely area.

We attended a wedding at a gothic church that faces the same square. I visit museums in every city that I visit and decided this was the one to see. My mind was blown by the works that I was able to casually admire having recently lined up for hours to see similar works at the Philadelphia museum of art. Granted, this is Paul Cezanne's city so I expected to see some great works, the fact that I did not have to fight to get an unobstructed view gave me joy.

This museum has a small but widely varied selection of art from across many periods. I also happened to visit during their Egyptian temporary exhibit, which was excellent – very informative, and with many striking pieces. It was also fun to look for all the pieces of Granet himself – whether of him or by him.

A beautifully presented collection of interesting artefacts arranged in a lovely setting. A bonus is the admission to the annex gallery that has a surprising collection of stunning art by Picasso, Klee and many others. Stunning to see these iconic pieces in such a sympathetic and peaceful setting.

I wasn't really aware of Granet as an artist before, but I very much enjoyed this collection. He was both talented and prodigious, creating many attractive little sketches and some large complex works. worth seeing, especially as the ticket includes entry to modern art collection in the chapelle des innocents: small but well selected

Somehow I walked right by due to its former church exterior. I walked up the narrow streets a few times, then looked up and found it. Had some nice Cezanne artwork and marble sculptures. Was enjoying wandering through Aix-en-Provence on a warm day in July 2019.

We always visit this museum when in Aix. This month (Sept. 2019) they had a special exhibition: FABIENNE VERDIER IN CÉZANNE COUNTRY We were not familiar with her powerful work but came away converts. Not only are the works on exhibition, but a film shows techniques she invented to create the massive pieces on display.
