My Wife and I had the pleasure of spending a magical 4 hours on the Aix en Provence food tour hosted by Erin.
The tour EXCEEDED our expectations as Erin not only had led us on a well thought out food tour which Immersed us in the Provence food scene , she also gave us a thorough history of the town and as if that was not enough she enlightened us In the architectural nuances of mansions that are found when wandering the beautiful streets of Aix.
But…what really made the tour extra special was Erin’s bubbly persona and her passion for food which was not only evident to us but clearly to all the vendors who she introduced to us through out the tour.
If you are looking for an authentic food tour and much more I would highly recommend the Aix en Provence food tour and ask specifically for Erin.
Bravo tastes of Provence and Erin for such a memorable experience.
P.S. Erin thanks for Car help!

What a wonderful experience. Mathilde was so knowledgeable. It was cool to see the shops and merchants she uses for her cooking school. She was great about pacing things to fit our large group of ten. The food sampling was fabulous and it was great to hear the story behind the food. My only suggestion is skip or plan a light lunch after because you will be full.

Right from when I tried to book this tour early April Jennifer, organizer and owner of Tastes of Provence, did her utmost to get us into the right tour on the right day, as they were already fully booked even then. She succeeded in the end and I appreciate her persistence to get us in this particular Shop tour.
Charlotte presented the tour and she was amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer, knowledgeable and more enthusiastic guide and you could tell that she was enjoying it all as well, although she wouldn’t taste any of the food, even when we tried to persuade her :)
She explained Aix history and the shops in fine detail; a very good background for us and through the Tastes of Provence book given to us at the end we can now easily re-visit these shops while still here in Aix.
The selection of shops were fantastic, with the most outstanding for us being André Savelli, la Fromagerie, what a choice of beautiful cheeses and also Patisserie Bechard, with an amazing history and the same family still owning the place and working there right now. The glazed fruit was stunning and so were all the cakes.
At Chocolaterie Brunet the Rum & Raisin Macaron was divine; I was lucky as it just came out of the oven.
We also loved the fruit market and the tasting there.
I can go on and on. A beautiful tour with a beautiful ending of André’s cheeses together with Mathilde’s wines.
All in all a fantastic tour and highly recommended.

My 19 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Jennifer Dugdale last week!!! After a week touring through Barcelona and Provence, and having already visited three markets, including Gordes and St. Remy, we were very skeptical as to what Jennifer could add in Aix--what a surprise! Jennifer had us mesmerized throughout the time with her as she carefully explained the history behind the food in her region...this was not merely a food tour, but rather a complete cultural experience.
Jennifer has developed close relationships with the best purveyors in Aix, and has access to "behind the scenes" tastings that we otherwise would have missed. To our surprise, we were given access to tastings both in the fabulous markets(there are three we visited) as well as in local shops, with absolutely so pressure to buy--although halfway through the morning all I could think of was, "Which clothes am I going to ditch out of the suitcase to make room for more sel du mer, lavendar, and honey!!!"
Jennifer's restaurant suggestions for both lunch and dinner were spot on as well--and we even ran into her that night when we were having dinner--when I waved at her she came in to make sure we could understand the menu, which was so kind!
I can't wait to return with my husband and spend another day with Jennifer!

Each year, my dad and I take a trip to Europe. This year, we explored France; we ventured to Paris, Aix-En-Provence, Arles, & Lyon--we both agreed that the Tastes of Provence Tour in Aix was the highlight of our trip! We couldn't have been happier with Mathilde; she was welcoming, informative, and helpful. She started the tour by providing some historical background about the city while we walked toward one of the oldest patisseries in Aix. When we arrived, we enjoyed bread, croissants, and traditional candies, listening to Mathilde talk about life in the city. Throughout the day, we sampled macaroons (hands down the best I've had), coffee, chocolates, and cheese. We also visited the famous market, which was absolutely incredible! The quality of the items for sale was unbelievable; Mathilde not only showed us how to select the best local produce, but also invited us to taste meats, jams, olives, and breads. We finished the tour with wine and wonderful conversation. Both my dad and I felt as if we were Aix locals; thanks to Mathilde, we felt at home in the city! When visiting Aix, this tour is an absolute must--we both highly recommend you check it out. Mathilde, thank you so much for making our trip so memorable! Absolutely perfect day in Aix.

The four of us spent the morning with Mathilde touring the Tuesday market and visiting local food shops and loved it. We drove over to Aix from St Remy and with her instructions it was easy to find a place to park and the meeting place. She explained the history of Aix as well as the history of the foods unique to the area and then took us all through the food market, outlining how to shop the food stalls with both fresh and prepared foods. We tasted so many wonderful things, from sweets to tapanade, fruits, meats, cheeses and pastries. It really could not have been better. We were joined on the tour by a family with a daughter and son who were high school/college age, and they also enjoyed the tour so it's really for all ages. We definitely would highly recommend any of Mathilde's great tours!

In every sense! We took this tour back in the fall of 2013 and I just realized I never wrote a review. Jennifer lead us on a lovely culinary journey through the markets and specialty shops of Aix. On our walking tour we sampled the best the region has to offer (exquisite pastries, olives, coffee, cheeses, lavender and figs to name but a few), visited iconic shops, met local artisans and farmers, learned a lot of local history and were given many good takeaway tips to enhance our experience in Aix and environs. As an aside, every one of her recommendations proved a delight! Highly recommend ... Cinq étoiles !

When my wife and I began planning out trip through Provence, our stop in Aix was originally on a day when "Taste of Provence" tour was not available. It sounded like an interesting tour so we rearranged things to make it happen. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable experiences of our trip. With a combination of warm friendly personality and an extensive knowledge of the history and cuisine of Aix, our Guide Mathilde, created the atmosphere of touring the wonderful market with an old friend. The feeling only grew as we were introduced to many of the venders by name and tasted samples of their offerings. The three hours flew by.....could have easily spent the entire day. Do yourself a favor and make this tour a priority.

Mathilde organized an excellent half day walking tour for us in Aix-en-Provence. I would definitely recommend this tour! It was more like a stroll than any long walks with stops along the way to some of the best food shops in Aix. Cheese, chocolate, pasteries, wine and then the Aix-en-Provence market! We ended the day in Mathilde's cooking school kitchen to taste all of our purchases along with some excellent rose! What a great experience. Can't recommend Mathilde and the tour enough.

I returned from my trip to Provence two weeks ago, and the tour with Jennifer was clearly a highlight! At first, I wasn't quite sure what a "gourmet food tour" would entail, but I quickly found out! Jennifer made it fun, interesting and added substance and depth to what would have been simply a walk through the local market if I had been on my own. I realize now how much I would have missed! You can tell that Jennifer loves what she is doing; she is very knowledgeable and adds just enough local flavor to give her tour its own "personality." Jennifer's "Tastes of Provence" tour was truly a great beginning to my time in Provence. I would highly recommend it!

Hi my husband and I will have time to tour Aix on August 5-8, 2018. How long does your Taste of Provence tour last? Is it mornings, afternoons, evenings? What days of the week? We’d like to do the tour on our first or second day (August 5 or 6) so that we’re more familiar with the area for the rest of our stay. Can you accommodate us?
Written June 14, 2018
When we did the tour, it was about 3 hours on a Wednesday morning (9 a.m. to noon). I think you need to reach out to the tour organizers to check it it's happening on a given day. It's great to do early in your stay, so you can go back to the delicious places you visit!

Mathilde,
We are a group of 12 friends that will be in Aix on Wed, april 26th. Are you available on that day and can you take a group that size?
We are interested in your walking 4 hour market tour of Aix with the shop visits, and tastings, market trip and finish with wine and cheese.
We also would love to see the Cezanne collection at your museum. Is it possible to do both? should the museum go first, then perhaps lunch at one of your favorite cafes, and then the tour? I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Laura Martin
