Totally worth the extra miles if you decide not to take the highway to Marseille/ Toulon. Beautiful views and you can stop along the way to take pictures and enjoy the fresh still hot air (we were there in October and the weather was beautiful). Narrow road up and downhill, so the driver should be extra careful.

We did the Route des Cretes by car, stopping for short walks on numerous occasions. Got magnificent views of the Mediterranean, Cassis on one side and La Ciotat on the other side. We drove on to La Ciotat but were not too impressed by this town. However, the Route des Cretes is a must when you're in the area.

This is a lovely way to drive between La Ciotat and Cassis..not a long distance but this route has a lot of verticale, and even more twists and turns. The payback is really outstanding views east toward Bandol; west toward Marseille and in the remarkable terrine around you. Try to avoid busy days...it's a narrow road, and much better with... More

We took the long way back from Cassis to Bandol for the first time after being to Cassis several times. The trip along D141 from Cassis to Cyotat is fantastic. The view of the Mediterranean and also the inland is breath taking. The only regret is that we did not have time to stop at more of the view points!

Just between Cassis and La Ciotat - follow the D141 to enjoy this scenic view. This tour was one of the 'WOW this is great' moments of our vacation. Hint: if you do not find a parking lot in Cassis, which can happen during summer, take the D141, have a few stops over there and find yourself relaxed, astonished and... More

We took the Route Des Cretes between Cassis and La Ciotat as the sun was setting. The route climbs high above linking the two towns. The views were absolutely fantastic giving superb views of the towns and beyond. There are a number of viewing points with space for parking. The route is also far shorter and quicker than going between... More

We took this road from La Ciotat to Cassis took us a 1.5 - 2 hours because we stopped a lot to take photos. We saw lots of people hiking this as well and we heard that It's about a 3 hour tour. If you only had a little bit of time I would suggest starting in Cassis and just... More

We found this route by accident travelling the coast road toward Toulon, and what an experience! An amazing roller coaster of a route with stunning views, rocky terrain, and the added stimulus of not wanting to fall over the side! We were lucky as the road can be closed when there are high winds or very bad weather, and though... More
