An interesting museum illustrating the maritime history of La Rochelle, concentrating on the fishing industry. There are many well constructed model ships which i think are manufactured in the workshops at the rear. This is followed by visits to 3 ships, firstly the meteorological ship...More

Very informative, both in terms of the history of La Rochelle and of shipping and seafaring more broadly. Being able to get on board the vessels and see close up what living conditions would be like was fascinating. The only downside was that there was...More

Have a visit to the bar of this museum in the evening. Excellent cocktails and nice atmosphere. Something different in la Rochelle. I liked the mojitos

Found the 3 ships very interesting. At the end of it was a very nice cafe where you could have something to eat & drink. Not to busy when we went in May so thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I am a big fan of boats ships and all things Maritime. I really enjoyed this museum. The fleet of classic yachts on the pier by the museum is superb. You can tour an old weather station ship, a fishing ship, and a tugboat. Do...More

So much to see here! 3 rooms, a temporary exhibition and 3 boats! As other reviews have said, the displays are in French but we were given information in English at reception. Staff were friendly and helpful, and this attraction offers great value for money.

It was an interesting visit with minimal English translation in a slim booklet. Highly recommend that this worthwhile museum seriously consider having the same audio translation service offered at Le Bunker who added this service recently. It would’ve greatly enhanced my visit and understanding of...More

This is a pleasant museum were you can see some old ships, namely a very interesting weather ship that was on station on the North Atlantic until the 1980s. They also have some very beautiful vintage yachts.

I'm not sure. I didn't see any one with a dog but that doesn't mean they don't allow them. I think it would be a bit impractical as there is a lot of narrow corridors and rooms. Hope that helps.
