This cathedral told a story with its art, and was very sacred. The stained glass and architecture was stunning. I loved it.

It's the Wandering Yank here. Mrs. Yank and I recently spent a wonderful month in France, and 3 days in La Rochelle. This is a rather typical cathedral, and I never grew tired of visiting churches and cathedrals. It's brighter than some, and in beautiful condition. 2 thumbs up!

Wonderful oil paintings adorn the whole interior. Ornate side chapels on both sides, some dedicated to the sea and ships and fishermen and others for private and quiet contemplation. If you are affected by strong incense aromas, it is very strong here. An organ practice was in progress on our visit, which enhanced the whole visit to the cathedral. Cooling... More

Super for a rainy day, free to enter and interesting architecture and super stained glass. Located near the bus station and an easy access to parking near by. Short walk to the markets with fantastic fruit and vegetables , meat and fish etc.

Average cathedral from the outside and has not got the wow factor from outside. Once you enter your will see extraordinary stain glass windows and magnificent Altar pieces and again stunning chapels all around. There is a huge organ. The cathedral has a war torn history between catholics and protestants. It was destroyed in 1568. It was rebuilt in 1628... More

My partner and I were there for Easter Mass. It is quite an impressive Cathedral for this relatively small town - well worth the visit, especially on this special Christian celebratory day.

In city center, in front of the park. Must be from the 1700´s approximately. Beautiful, with lots of amazing paintings. Well preserved in every detail. Worth to visit if you´re in La Rochelle and want to wonder around.

I'm far from religious but this place is fascinating, from the outside it almost blends in to the surroundings despite its size but once through the doors it's definitely worth a stroll around, the stain glass windows and great and the organ pipes above you as you walk in are massive !

Awestruck. Simply overwhelmed by the attention to detail in this place. Always worth going into these places and spending 5 minutes to reflect on it. You can understand why these places stand the test of time. Awesome!
