We visited this producer amongst all of them by accident but realised we had chosen the right one as not only do you get to learn more about Cognac production, but you also get to see the chateau which uses the unique environment of its cellars to store the ageing Cognac. It also has an interesting history of its own.... More

The visit to this distillery and chateau was less theatrical and more personal than the visit to the neighboring distillery. A very informative tour of the chateau in English was followed by an opportunity to taste some of the Otard cognac. Our visit had been arranged as part of our river cruise excursion so I am not aware of the... More

This is a great place to visit because there is a chateau to visit as well as learning about cognac. It was also much more personal than some of the bigger names and the cognac was delicious. Make a reservation in advance if you would like a tour in English.

We chose the Chateau Cognac (Baron Otard) cognac distillery tour as the one to do based on other recommendations on TripAdvisor, and we are so glad that we did, it was wonderful. The combination of seeing the history of the old chateau (which is now the distillery), in which three English kings and five French kings lived, plus the amazing... More

I loved visiting this charming chateau overlooking the river Charente. It is now used to show visitors the history and manufacture of one.of Cognac's fine fortified wines. The guide was very competent and interesting.

This very old building has been converted in part to the production & storage of cognac. Problem for non-French speaking visitors. Welcome sampling at end of tour...

As other reviewers say you get a good history lesson as well as cognac making lesson. The chateau is amazing and worth the visit even without cognac. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. And if you pay the over 100 euro tour you get to see even more exclusive places in the castle as well as taste something very special.... More

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic comment. As you so rightly say, you learn about the History of France and the elaboration of our cognacs as well during the tour. The tour you refer to is the “Hommage au Baron Otard” tour and you get a chance to visit, among other rooms, the private apartments, place of birth of... More

Well worth a visit even if you are not a cognac fan as the tour thru the castle along with the history is worth the €10. We also did Hennessy and enjoyed Orard much better

The authenticity and devotion to the art of distilling fine Cognac is so well depicted at this Chateau. The family history and pride in keeping the methodology pure and consistent is evident and the tour ended with a lovely tasting experience. This cognac is not available Stateside so a purchase is worth considering....

Beside tasting the excellent cognac, we learned the history of Cognac the city and the castle, which dates back to the 10th century. Fascinating tour through the chateau.
