We came upon the Cathedral whilst walking Les Remparts. It was a very hot day and the cool interior of the Cathedral was most welcome. From the façade with its intricate stone carvings and tympanum one would never guess that the inside of this spectacular...More

Visited, but not well enough designed or planned for visitors of every nation, will take another look next month. Sadly lots of places in France do not pay attention to detail and ensuring the buildings are kept in good repair.

Not the most beautiful or inspiring church in Catholicism, but if you're walking by, why not visit? The walk on the ramparts nearby is much more interesting.

The outside, with its white bell-tower and dome and detailed Poitevain carvings, is stunning - although traffic makes it difficult to see the main façade as a whole. Inside has very little to offer, due to numerous re-workings through history.

There is not much to say. It could be that the architecture would interest some but the building is uninspiring and bland and a long way from anything.

Well worth a visit. The stroll from town through the lanes or via the rampart are pleasant in themselves. It's a beautiful, imposing piece of architecture. I have been to a gospel concert here which was magic.

Pretty cathedral - plenty of good photo opportunities of gorgeous architecture outside. Less interesting inside. In the old quarter of Angouleme so generally nice to stroll about

We visited on a Saturday evening just before closing time (7:00 pm). The cathedral is quaint and very elegant inside. I felt completely at ease despite an incredibly hectic drive to the site. Unfortunately we were not able to attend mass, which was at 11:00...More

The facade of the cathedral is a real masterpiece. It is a great example of Romanesque architecture style. Take your time to admire all the details of the scenes. Just fascinating !! .

The building is gorgeous and a wonder to observe from inside and out. The wall in which the entrance is located is covered in engravings of Bible stories and the towers give the building a lot of character. Inside is a lot more simple than...More

Beautiful Cathedral. Very Spacious and bright. Descriptions throughout Cathedral, but nothing was written in English. No English pamphlets available.

The cathedral of Angoulême is very old and the main part is in roman style. But it is still quite big and impressive and nicely decorated with stone statues on the tower. The surroundings are rather quiet with traffic, so you can enjoy everything in...More
