About
Founded in 1885, Langlois-Chateau exploits 95 hectares of vines, in the heart of the Loire Valley, with a certified organic vineyard in Saumur and Saumur-Champigny and two estates in Sancerre. Langlois-Chateau has become a reference for both its Crémants de Loire and its still wines. Langlois-Chateau offers a unique tour of the entire winery, including a view of the vineyards, the pressing centre and the caves. The tour culminates in a complete guided wine tasting session in the boutique. The tour lasts one hour: - Act1, Wine school: a foundation course in oenology in our classroom - Act2, Tour of Winery: pressing machines, Tanks, vats, - Act3, Tour of caves, 300meters to discover the "traditionnal method" - Act4, taste Whites (Saumur Whites, Sancerre...), Rosés (Saumur Rosés...), Reds (Saumur, Saumur Champigny), and our Sparkling Crémants de Loire. The tour is available only on reservation.

Great tour which was really informative. We emailed ahead to book an English speaking tour which was responded too very promptly. After a tour of the vast caves where the different process of wine production is explained ( which was like a private tour as it was only my husband and I taking part with an English speaking hostess) We enjoyed sampling many different types and vintages of wine during which our hostess explained everything we needed to know about each different one, there is absolutely no pressure to purchase but we very happily did as the sparkling red is a regional speciality which you can’t buy in the U.K. and is absolutely lovely😀🍷🍾

Great tour, we went out of season so just had a tour of the caves, but this was still brilliant and informative (and for a bargain price of €2.50!!) the wines were delicious, and the sparkling red is a must-try! Would go again.

Hello, Indeed without a reservation it is not possible to do the "Winery Backstage" tour, even the visit of the cave isn't always avalaible.. "Very informative" is a good description of our tours, whose purpose is to share our knowledge and passion during the tour. Once at the tasting the purpose is to help you to find the perfect wine depending on your taste Kind regards,

A group of friends went on the short tour of Langlois for 2.5 euros and found it friendly and informative.
After our tour of the caves we enjoyed a wine tasting.

We popped in to book a tour in English and the owners were incredibly rude and dismissive. Clear they aren’t interested unless you’re French! They eventually suggested a time for an English tour, but by this point we weren’t keen to give them our custom given how many other options there are in the area.
Went back to our hotel and mentioned it to the owner, and he said Langlois Chateau were notorious for being rude. Best avoided- the other wine houses in the area are much more welcoming.

Dear Madam or Sir, As you can see in most of our comments, we always try to do our best to welcome ALL our customers : English, Belgian, Dutch, German and French of course ... We don't make any difference ! Of course, we could sometimes miss our goal. As we want to welcome our customers in the best conditions, we prefer that people book their visit. You are not obliged to accept it as we are not obliged to accept this kind of critics !!! NB = in mots of the hotels, we are notorious to be one of the best visit. Have a nice day Travellers 202202 and next time if you want to book a visit, we would be very pleased to welcome you !

We actually selected this after reviewing the previous reviews on trip advisor and were really impressed with the quality of the tour and the product! The information provided on the tour was informative and delivered with great humour. We started off in the class room for approximately 30 mins and following that had a tour of the vineyard and the caves which were very impressive. At the end of the tour was the tasting. There was no pressure to buy the wines at all (however; we did buy our fair share of the product due to how good it is). All in all we were there for a couple of hours and it's a good way to meet new people while on your travels and at €5 per person (which is then deducted off any purchase at the end of the tour) this is definitely a must see place to visit!!

We visited following good reviews in our holiday cottage guest book, and were given a lovely lady guide who was able to show the site off to us all (including 2 teenagers and a 7 year old).

The place was spotless, and the video tour was really interesting, with lots of time for questions along the way. The caves were 12 degrees, contrasting against the 28 outside, but actually, it was really refreshing, and we didn't need the jackets that our guide had brought for us.
It's possible to visit the vineyards, but they are up lots of flights of external steps - it would be possible to do the tour without visiting the top, but the view is spectacular up there of the town and chateau at Saumur.

We were given 5 or so samples of wine to try, and our 7 year old was given grape juice so he didn't feel left out. No pressure to buy anything, but we did buy quite a lot - receiving a free LC branded corkscrew and a stopper for the sparkling wine (not that we expect to leave a bottle unfinished!!)

Admission was 5 Euros for the adults, nothing for the children, and the admission fee was refunded against purchases. As good as any of the Champagne tours at Epernay.

Wow!
What can we say? For 5 Euro a head, this will be the best money you spend in France.
We'd never heard of the brand, but booked based on the reviews and it's worth booking in advance, as they cater for most well known languages.
Our guide, Isabelle, was fantastic and really informative, she fully explained the processes for making wine, making fizzy wine, the soil, classification etc, utilising a white board and marker pen, to the extent that it was like a game of Pictionary for alcoholics!
The tour around the grounds was great and a real eye opener, with the Company clearly a good, happy place to work.
After the tour, we had a tasting session, again with Isabelle and really informative/helpful for purchases. Don't be afraid to ask to taste other wines on the list, if it's not initially supplied, as they are keen to oblige.
Due to travelling on a motorbike, we were limited to how much we could buy/carry, but you even get a refund on the tour ticket, with wine purchases!
We toured with a family, so suitable for kids, over 7/8 yrs I'd say, but overall a terrific experience.

5€ would be great value just for the wine tour. This was a very instructive 1 and a bit hour tour of the winery..taking you from the initial harvesting, through the different processes used for the local white, rose and red wines as well as the sparkling Cremants (which are essentially Champagnes). The tour also takes in the storage and bottling processes which involves a tour of the limestone caves in the cliff above the winery.
After that we were given a pretty comprehensive tasting of 6 wines. These included the standard Chenin Blanc and the Old vine version, with the same for the Cabernet Franc reds. We also tasted both the red and white Cremants.
We didn't feel rushed and there was no pressure to buy (although we did).
We visited just before harvest in late August. There were about 8 of us on the tour which was in English.
Recommended.

On our recent visit to the Loire valley we asked our hotel owner which was the best Cave to visit. His recommendation was the Langlois-Chateau in particular because they made high quality wine using only grapes from their own vineyards.
We pre-booked the tour on the Sunday morning for 3-15 that afternoon (tour in English). We arrived back just before 3-15 expecting to see a large group waiting for the tour – it was just us and as we were just a little early while we waited we were given a taste of the wines to come!!
Our guide was excellent and she spoke very good English. The start of the visit was in the classroom with a brief explanation of types of wines and how the different wines (red, white, and sparkling wines) at Langlois –Chateau were made, then up to the main areas where the grapes were processed through the different pieces of machinery ending up in the bottling area. It was a very interesting tour.
We were then taken into the Caves themselves where the wine goes through the maturing/fermentation process. Thousands of bottles of different wines a wine lovers dream!! The tour finished back in the tasting area where we sampled Saumur white and red wines and the sparkling wines including the Brut Rose all of which were excellent. Needless to say we couldn’t resist buying some bottles!!
It was a most enjoyable afternoon and we would certainly recommend a visit to this small but exclusive producer if you are in the Saumur area

Thank you all for coming! The high season is definitely under way and we are delighted to be able to show the winery backstage several times a day! We are pleased that you enjoyed both the tour and off course most important, the tasting, we hope to see you again to try the 2013 vintage!

On one of the hottest days of the year we rolled into the lovely courtyard with a sweat and a mighty thirst
Within 20 minutes both were gone.
An informal tour with a great guide who takes you through the whole wine making process at a good pace and makes it sound so simple.
We were soon in the caves at 12 degrees and they were quite incredible
As a small producer they make around 1 million bottles with the minimum of fuss and all stored, at some point, in the myriad of tunnels.
With the tasting we tried around half of what they produce and the guide was funny informative and in no rush to see you off the premises
The quality is good and it was easy to load the van with some of their delights
Wine humour and respite from the heat; what was not to like
Cheers
