About
Since its creation over 130 years ago on the banks of the Loire River, Maison Langlois’s Loire Crémant has been dedicated to sharing an authentic way of life driven by an uncompromising pursuit of quality. To never compromise on quality: this guideline led Langlois to select the prestigious Protected Designation of Origin (Appellation d’Origine Protégée) “Crémant de Loire”. To truly experience and feel what Langlois’ great wines are all about, there’s nothing like stepping onto its incomparable site. From its cellars and hillside harvesting area, each panorama is breathtaking: below, there’s an unobstructed view of the Château de Saumur and the Loire River, while the vineyards of Clos Saint-Florent unfold above.

We popped in to book a tour in English and the owners were incredibly rude and dismissive. Clear they aren’t interested unless you’re French! They eventually suggested a time for an English tour, but by this point we weren’t keen to give them our custom given how many other options there are in the area.
Went back to our hotel and mentioned it to the owner, and he said Langlois Chateau were notorious for being rude. Best avoided- the other wine houses in the area are much more welcoming.

Of course, we could sometimes miss our goal. As we want to welcome our customers in the best conditions, we prefer that people book their visit. The wine tour and tasting at Langlois-Chateau is very good. The tour is in English and gives a good overview of the process including making sparkling wine. The guides were informative and friendly. There is limited free parking on-site and it is easy to get to. The cost of reasonable and the tasting at the end is fun.

Great tour, we went out of season so just had a tour of the caves, but this was still brilliant and informative (and for a bargain price of €2.50!!) the wines were delicious, and the sparkling red is a must-try! Would go again.

Hello,
Indeed without a reservation it is not possible to do the "Winery Backstage" tour, even the visit of the cave isn't always avalaible..
"Very informative" is a good description of our tours, whose purpose is to share our knowledge and passion during the tour. Once at the tasting the purpose is to help you to find the perfect wine depending on your taste
Kind regards,

A group of friends went on the short tour of Langlois for 2.5 euros and found it friendly and informative.
After our tour of the caves we enjoyed a wine tasting.

We actually selected this after reviewing the previous reviews on trip advisor and were really impressed with the quality of the tour and the product! The information provided on the tour was informative and delivered with great humour. We started off in the class room for approximately 30 mins and following that had a tour of the vineyard and the caves which were very impressive. At the end of the tour was the tasting. There was no pressure to buy the wines at all (however; we did buy our fair share of the product due to how good it is). All in all we were there for a couple of hours and it's a good way to meet new people while on your travels and at €5 per person (which is then deducted off any purchase at the end of the tour) this is definitely a must see place to visit!!

We visited following good reviews in our holiday cottage guest book, and were given a lovely lady guide who was able to show the site off to us all (including 2 teenagers and a 7 year old).
The place was spotless, and the video tour was really interesting, with lots of time for questions along the way. The caves were 12 degrees, contrasting against the 28 outside, but actually, it was really refreshing, and we didn't need the jackets that our guide had brought for us.
It's possible to visit the vineyards, but they are up lots of flights of external steps - it would be possible to do the tour without visiting the top, but the view is spectacular up there of the town and chateau at Saumur.
We were given 5 or so samples of wine to try, and our 7 year old was given grape juice so he didn't feel left out. No pressure to buy anything, but we did buy quite a lot - receiving a free LC branded corkscrew and a stopper for the sparkling wine (not that we expect to leave a bottle unfinished!!)
Admission was 5 Euros for the adults, nothing for the children, and the admission fee was refunded against purchases. As good as any of the Champagne tours at Epernay.

I think the title says it all!
I originally booked this tour as a couple only to find my sister and brother in law staying on the same campsite so contacted the winery the night before to see if we could increase to 4 - no problem.
The tour starts in the wine school where our guide - I wish I could remember her name - gave a decent overview of how wine is made, we then visited the winery where as luck would have it, bottling was in progress so we got to see it in action. This is followed by a visit to the caves. What was nice throughout this process was that this is clearly a working winery with lot’s of activity.
The tour culminates in a very generous tasting where the differences are explained. There’s no pressure to buy but if you do the tour price is refunded - very generous.
Whether you’re a wine novice or a WSET Level 3 oenophile like me you’ll learn something and enjoy the visit. If you’re in Saumur make sure you stop by. Heck, even if you’re not, take a detour, you won’t regret it.

Visited this Vineyard based on the reviews from TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed.
We booked an English tour and we were the only ones on it with our two children aged 13 & 11.
It started off with a classroom explanation of the winemaking process and then a complete tour including the underground caves and was finished with a wine tasting session.
Everything was explained really well and the tasting of several wines which you can choose to spit or drink, they even gave the kids some apple juice so they could join in.
The €5 charge for the tour is handed back on the purchase of the wine, which was excellent
Highly recommended, e-mail or call to check on the English tour time as it changes I believe

Hello P1RSW,
Thank you for this nice comment,
As you said it is essential to book !
Without a reservation we can't be sure to offer you a tour ...
The purpose of the wine tasting at the end is to put into practice all the visit with school cave and winery.
Like that you can link the practice to theory
Hoping to see you soon at Langlois-Chateau

Wow!
What can we say? For 5 Euro a head, this will be the best money you spend in France.
We'd never heard of the brand, but booked based on the reviews and it's worth booking in advance, as they cater for most well known languages.
Our guide, Isabelle, was fantastic and really informative, she fully explained the processes for making wine, making fizzy wine, the soil, classification etc, utilising a white board and marker pen, to the extent that it was like a game of Pictionary for alcoholics!
The tour around the grounds was great and a real eye opener, with the Company clearly a good, happy place to work.
After the tour, we had a tasting session, again with Isabelle and really informative/helpful for purchases. Don't be afraid to ask to taste other wines on the list, if it's not initially supplied, as they are keen to oblige.
Due to travelling on a motorbike, we were limited to how much we could buy/carry, but you even get a refund on the tour ticket, with wine purchases!
We toured with a family, so suitable for kids, over 7/8 yrs I'd say, but overall a terrific experience.

5€ would be great value just for the wine tour. This was a very instructive 1 and a bit hour tour of the winery..taking you from the initial harvesting, through the different processes used for the local white, rose and red wines as well as the sparkling Cremants (which are essentially Champagnes). The tour also takes in the storage and bottling processes which involves a tour of the limestone caves in the cliff above the winery.
After that we were given a pretty comprehensive tasting of 6 wines. These included the standard Chenin Blanc and the Old vine version, with the same for the Cabernet Franc reds. We also tasted both the red and white Cremants.
We didn't feel rushed and there was no pressure to buy (although we did).
We visited just before harvest in late August. There were about 8 of us on the tour which was in English.
Recommended.
