This chateau appears to be the usual chateau with towers and dry moat but there is a big added bonus to tour multiple levels of underground tunnels and living areas including where animals were raised and bread baked to survive long sieges (including Vikings). It...More

A castle within a castle with a dry moat, external surrounding walls lead deep into an underworld. Both the Chateau itself and the perimeter must be visited.

Called into this chateau on a very warm September day. Not the best Chateau in Loire but worth a visit. What makes this one unique are the subterranean tunnels which the entire household and armed forces could live in if they were under attack from...More

Yet another really interesting chateau to see in the Loire valley. A lot of it is underground so be prepared. Really worthwhile!

If you're in Saumur and looking for a unique Chateau experience close at hand, look no further than Chateau de Breze. A nice tour encompassing much of the Chateau, cellar, etc... will take only a couple of hours and is well worth the trip!
