- Ani C468 contributionsWorth the trip to get thereI went sef drive not a tour. Easy to find good road. 1500vt entrance fee no time limit. The pool is fed by sea and some fresh water. Clean. Swing ropes and platforms to jump from. If young children would need parental care and guidance. No real safety measures in place and like a lot of places maintenance minimal and could do with a little TLC. Most of lounge chairs ripped and broken. Some steps broken. It's a lovely place and can picnic or luncheon there as picnic tables. There was a kinda bar but I didn't venture in. Easy to pass a day relaxing away from pvilla.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 17, 2023

- FayPrahran, Australia141 contributionsTranquil before the cruise ship tourists arrived!Blue Lagoon was tranquil, shady and beautiful. The water is cool but on a hot, humid day just right. There are places to sit in the shade out of the water and relax also. An easy 30 mins trip from Port Villa. Try and find the schedule for cruise ships in port as the arrival of the hundreds of visitors from the cruise ship will change the ambience of the lagoon.Visited January 2024Traveled with friendsWritten January 4, 2024

Cost of entry was AUD$20 and $5/10 for under 13 yrs. Worth a visit. Toilet facilities are iffy. Spent about an hour there.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 4, 2024
- ChellencGrand Terre, New Caledonia53 contributionsBlue LagoonAlthough an overcast and cloudy day it was still amazing. The only downside was when looking online or trying find info about the entry price it was unclear. Price is 1500 vuv for adults and 1000 vuv for children. Only accept cash. Easy and nice self drive there.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 8, 2024
- Caitlin L2 contributionsToilets need to be upgraded1500vt entry fee for tourists. It is good to see that some of the facilities have been upgraded such as the wooden platforms for jumping. However, the toilets are very poor. How can you expect tourists to use the toilet when there is no toilet paper provided? Considering what they are charging and that this is a top tourist attractions for Port Vila, I would expect the standards of the toilets to be much higher.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 9, 2024
- Justin TBrisbane, Australia28 contributionsGreat activity with teensA great activity to do with the teens and children for 1 to 2 hours or longer. Rope swings and jumping platforms suitable for all ages and confidence levels for those that want to be more active or you can float around in the blue blue water if you want something a little more sedate. The price of 1500 vat (20aud) per adult (over12) was more than reasonable given the entertainment for my teens. We combined the trip to blue lagoon with a trip to Rarru falls.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 17, 2024
- Kirsty LSydney, Australia96 contributionsWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, the colour of the water looks fake! So many places to jump off like platforms and trees, people are there helping younger or frightened people. Decent amount of places to sit, on the sand or the grass. Go early before the cruise ships get there, we got there around 9am and by 11am it was filling up. Would love some food options there, the owners would make a killing if they cooked a BBQ, a lot of tours were there with their own BBQ's and it wa making my mouth water lol We spent around 3-4 hours hereVisited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 22, 2024
- Mike GoodallSydney, Australia38 contributionsThe Blue Lagoon Vanuatu - worth a visit. If you are visiting Vanuatu and on Efate Island a trip to the Blue Lagoon, about 45 minutes East of Port Vila is well worth it. A cool spring fed lagoon which also opens to the sea. Very family friendly, change room and toilets available though very basic. Drop in at the Rentapao River falls on the way past.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 11, 2024

We were on a cruise and wanted to visit the blue lagoon. We planned to rent a car but at Port Vila a really happy minibus driver named Sam greeted us and said we should go with him. His shirt said port authority or something to that effect. He told us he could take us around to many destinations for A$250 and we said no thanks, we want to rent a car because it was $100 for the day. He insisted in $180 and he accepted $160 for 3 hours. Sam then proceeded to waste as much of our day as he possibly could. The first stop was the petrol station for 25 minutes where he put 4L of petrol into the minibus. Next stop for water. He really put a damper on our day and he was very unfriendly for the whole trip. Stay away from the port mini bus taxis.
The Blue lagoon is pretty good but there are not too many other things to do.

This is one of the most pleasant trips to do in Vanuatu, the Blue Lagoon is worth the money to go in. You can hire a local driver or jump on a guided tour.
we went with some friends that are locals and spent quite some time just swimming around, the lagoon is quite beautiful and very clean and clear. The water is refreshing but after a minute or two you are unaware of the coolness. You can take along snacks, drinks etc and make a day of it or just head in for an hour os so and have a refreshing swim. There are little jetties and rope swings for people to play on.

The lagoon itself is lovely and the rope swings fun but with a $20 per head entry fee it’s not worth the money. There are 3 tiny single person changing booths which are foul and the 3 toilets are the most disgusting ones I have ever seen, I couldn’t use them and I have seen some bad ones on my travels. They stink and there was faeces all over. Being so close to the water I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a health hazard to swimmers. Nothing has been cleaned for years. On cruise ship days there are literally hundreds of people in the lagoon and with the amount they pay everyone should expect better.
When you pay to visit you feel as though you are lining the property owners pocket.

We stopped into the Blue Lagoon in transit from our stay at the Havannah to the Warwick La Lagon in Efate. We timed our visit around high tide to ensure the water level would be appropriate for rope swinging, which happened to be 8:15am meaning we were the first guests. This was no issue at all and we paid our fare and enjoyed a few hours swinging and swimming virtually on our own. The lovely Carl was our guide/life guard and gave instructions on how to best swing (which we mangled but still had fun) and we left feeling refreshed and exhausted. The lagoon flows further down to the sea and there are unmanned platforms and places to sun away from the busiest main swing. This would have been the end of the story....BUT...that night back at the resort we noticed my watch was missing! After some investigative photo forensics we pinpointed the exact moment I jumped into the water (watch on), and resurfaced sans watch. Defeated in the moment we decided to return the next day at low tide (2pm) to see if we could somehow locate the surely lost, waterlogged or otherwise damaged watch. We returned, paid our fee and began swimming around the spot we figured was most likely, and knew immediately we didn't stand a chance. It was at this moment that Carl reappeared and asked us how we were and what we were doing. When we told him his eyes lit up and he summoned a group of local children to help the cause. He himself climbed the tree and pointed directly at something in the water. When the kids couldn't locate anything he jumped in himself and surfaced with my watch - still ticking! I should mention the watch was a wedding gift with high sentimental value and the relief we both felt was immense. We laughed with Carl and gave him a nice tip for his troubles and promised to be more careful next time. Thank you so much Carl and the wonderful people of Vanuatu for so many memorable experiences of kindness on our travels!

We went to the lagoon on a hot day and found the water quite cold but very refreshing and clear. The area is quite picturesque. Entry is $20AU per person. The floor of the lagoon and its surrounds are covered by stones and rocks that are sharp and very uncomfortable to walk on or large, smooth rocks that are incredibly slippery, so water shoes are recommended. The entry points into the water are not well maintained and are difficult for very young and older individuals to use. There are a couple of ramps on the far side of the lagoon from the entry, but we couldn't work out how to get to them. Having said that, there are sturdy ropes hanging from trees on both sides of the lagoon that are a very popular way of swinging into the water for the brave-hearted.

Not worth it. $20 entry fee per person to swim in a lagoon. It is nice to look at but that's it. No services available. The toilets should not be used by anyone who cares about their health and it was completely packed- cruise ship day. Even the Vanuata tourist board claim the lagoon is good an insta snap and that's about it. Avoid at all (expensive) costs

After paying a tour operator to bring us here, it cost another AUS$80 for 2 adults and 2 children to get in. The people running the entry were rude and only interested in collecting as much money as possible. Our option was to go in or sit in the carpark. On entering, my family used the female change room and said they were clean enough but the toilets were an utter mess and they would rather go in the jungle. The entry into the water is dangerous with poor access and very slippery, I saw several people slip and land heavily. The water itself was lovely and the kids had fun on the swings. There is better value for money by going to one of the many hundreds of beautiful beaches.

While staying on the island we made the massive mistake of visiting on a cruise ship day! The place was absolutely heaving with cruise ship passengers.
I’m sure it would be lovely on a quiet day where apparently you would have the place nearly to yourself but this was an utter rip off for AUD$20 per person.
As others have said the toilets and change rooms were horrific.

Does this lagoon get crowded? If so any recommendations for quieter easy to access lagoons?
Written December 13, 2019
Yes on the day the cruise ships come in to Port Vila everyone heads to the same places I did not enjoy the Blue Lagoon for this reason. I found it crowded noisy and the water swampy

How about doing a round the Island tour including blue lagoon. We did so in July for about $AU100 each adult lunch and entry fees included. Try Manples tours on facebook insta or jjmanplestours

In July there are 3 of us going to blue lagoon. Would it be better/cheaper for us to pay a tour company ($350+) or hire a car and go ourselves? Are the roads easy to navigate? And are hire cars cheap or super expensive? Thanks
Written June 23, 2019
Hire a taxi. The taxi drivers are very knowledgable and will drive you straight there. Negotiate a price, first. If there is a bus and you have a group, do that. A bus can hold up to 14 people. The Blue Lagoon is amazing.

Hi, a family of 4 gonna visit there in August, all adults and none of us are strong swimmer. 2 of the boys (mid 20s) wanna do the rope swings. was just wondering is the water deep and is it better to wear snorkelling vest for them?
Written May 26, 2019
rope swings are awesome but you do need to be a decent swimmer, yes there is no current but you cant touch the bottom and there are no lifeguards watching people swim

Hi there, thank you for your review/s. What are the self-travel options from Port Vila to the Blue Lagoon? Would love any advice on local buses, taxis, etc, as an alternate to being part of a tour group. Thank you in advance :-)

We hired a quad bike from "On Wheels" in Port Vila and rode up to the Blue Lagoon. Was a nice alternative to a minibus.
And we stopped at some beaches along the way.
There's also a waterfall along the way to Blue Laggon called Renatpao River Cascades I think. Beautiful spot to visit too!

Is the blue lagoon accessible for elderly and less mobile people?
Written September 5, 2018
Yes this is OK for elderly people with limited Mobility to a point, at the time I was there, I was waiting for a Hip Replacement and I was hobbling around using a walking stick, I was able to get around OK and I am 75, However, if you are in a wheelchair I would not recommend it at all as some of the paths down to the water are quite steep with rather large steps, hope this helps.

How long do you spend at the blue lagoon on a tour?
Written September 4, 2018
Roger is flexible but it’s a great place to swim and have lunch. There are tables and chairs for picknicing. You could spend half a day here or 1-2 hours on an island tour

Hi, what is the water temprature like at blue lagoon. We are going in March 2018. Will the kids be able to swin in it?
Written January 15, 2018
Don't know the exact temperature, but there were plenty of kids in the lagoon and would have taken my own kids in, but flotation devices for kids which are not confident in water as in places it will go above their heads.

Just wondering what the hike is like to get to this swimming hole in port Vila? My dad has 2 hip replacements and my brother has a low fitness level. We are going around late January. Thanks

The lake is right next to the car park, but there are some ramps and a few steps down, and then the lake drops away. However, if he's okay walking on uneven ground he should be okay.

Negotiate with Taxi, there are lots of Taxi at the Ship once arrived. Share the fare, its a cheap AUD ride for 40 min max! . Have the $5 AUD entry at Lagoon gate. Beware deep waters, take snorkel too.
