A great visit for art lovers, with a collection that spans from the 14th to 21 centuries. I particularly liked the new building which wraps around from the street. On the down side, the café is a bit expensive.

This art gallery is well worth a visit. The building is interesting and the collection is varied. The trick is to skim through all of it and just linger on the things that really catch your eye. I also had lunch there but was not that impressed, there are so many better places to eat in Nantes.
Another point to note is that the gallery is right next door to the Jardin de Plantes so you can make a nice combined trip of the two.

Such a surprise to find an art museum of such quality in a relatively small city. Thé collection is large and well displayed in a spacious building.
Well worth two to three hours,
possibly more.

The scope of this collection is very impressive -- something for everyone. You will discover artists previously unknown to you, and a very good cafe to enjoy during a break.

This museum is one of those accessible with a 20-euro pass that permits access to any of four museums in Nantes over a year-long period. If you are in Nantes, allow at least half a day to Musee d'Arts!

The museum is large and one should decide what one really wants to see. We followed the special exhibit which showed the development of French art till the modern era. An interesting, instructive visit in an impressive building. Perfect for a rainy day.

This is a wonderful place to visit for art lovers. We spent about 4 hours admiring the wide selection of works. The time passed quickly. There is much to see, some very famous artists on display. The building is spacious, light and airy, a great showcase for the city.
The mobile phone app didn’t work very well and needs a bit of attention, otherwise a perfect day out.

Following several years closure for extensive refurbishment, this wonderful museum reopened with a bang just a week or so prior to my visit. Aside of painting and sculptures from the very best, I'm talking Monet, Rodin et al, there is also an exhibition by Susanna Fritscher called Air, Light and Time.

It is different but to describe would be flippant; just go and see it if you like art and you're in the area; it really is worth catching.

Along with Air, Light and Time, some of the other exhibits are truly wonderful with several sculptures by Rodin, which are joined by Chantron's 'Dead Leaves', Proteus 'Night of Waterloo' and 'Flood' by Comerre to name but a few stunning paintings to make you to make the hair stand on the back of your neck.

Will visit this museum every time I'm in Nantes.
