As already said, Nantes is a crazy city. Jules Verne is all around the place. Still today. A trip on the elephant ????????

I am extremely fortunate that a childhood friend married a French man and they live in Nantes year round, visit Paris frequently and spend their summers at the Loire Atlantic coast. I've been fortunate enough to spend time with them in all three places. Nantes hold a special place in my heart as I've socialized and become close with their... More

Expensive ride and not very interesting at all. Better to see this from the ground. Staff is ok, but not really too interested. I think if I had to do this all day I would be bored too.

We visited during Le Voyage A Nantes and really enjoyed our stay (4 nights) but we didn't realise how big Nantes is and while we did follow bits of the green line I think you would either need a longer stay or be up at dawn and out all day to get to see everything!! Some of the highlights: The... More

Just follow the green line and you'll see the best of Nantes, architecture, museums, castle, parks, cathedral, audivisual art work, etc. The booklet is very handy and gives brief background info. Walk of take a bike (for hire everywhere!) because Nantes is a very cycle friendly city.

One can follow the green line through the city and see many interesting artworks (and some, not so interesting) - certainly worth finding some time to do this interesting walk.

Even though they were performing maintenance on the elephant, we got to see it up close and personal. Many of the other mechanicals birds, animals were working though. We wish we could have see the dragon in operation especially blowing fire. It was amazing to go in and see these machines up close and personal.

It's a great experience every year. Le Voyage a Nantes takes you in the most important places to see in the city. You just have to follow the green line on the ground and this line will take you for a nice journey to remember. It's better to go to the tourist office to have more information about it. You... It was a marvellous surprise to come across this elephant. You can ride on it (but you need to buy a ticket for that). We contented ourselves with just watching it moving up and down the former quai. The technology and mechanisms were a sight to behold. If you have seen "War Horse" before, you'll know what I'm talking about.... More
