This open place is central for Angers, reachable by tramway! Close to shiopping and historic center it offers a mixture of culture and dining!

The most glamorous square in the very centre of the city. All the trams stop here and many of its people congregate to see and be seen in its many pavement cafes and high-end bistros.
Public art and fountains adorn this square to great effect.

Not sure why I'm giving this such a high rating, but it is just a cool space. Very popular space for gathering and meeting friends. It's not the architecture that will necessarily wow you, but rather the ambiance and the vibe of the people present.

We were at Place du Ralliement during the end of August. It was very lively and had a beautiful garden and an area to sit and lounge. There are numerous restaurants, although most are quite touristy and you would be better advised to eat elsewhere, but a great place to stop for a beer, cold drink or coffee. This is also a central place to catch the Tram which will take you to the train station or Terra Botanica. We returned to the the Place du Ralliement several days in a row. I note that the 1st week of September appears to be when they remove all of the 'leisure' activities, gardens, etc. (not restaurants) to prepare for the fall / winter.

The square is busy, having the tram pass through it, and there is so much traffic, the place is quite noisy. You find outdoor cafés, but be aware of where you sit down, as some places is only for dining, and others are only for drinks.

This square is busy, with people bustling here and there, trams thundering by, and a entrance for the underground car park. The relatively new large flat water feature fountains are quite cleverly done. We didn't linger here as there was still a lot of construction work being carried out. I am sure once normality returns it will be a nice spot again.

This Place was within easy walking distance of our hotel and if you did not want to walk it is on the tram line with a stop here. It was worth the while to stop and look around and enjoy the ambience of this Place.

The square is full of restaurants and shops, the tram line runs right through it. There is a wonderful bakery at the corner, as well as Tati, which is a cheap and cheerful shop!
