Well done history of Joan!
Aug 2021
This museum is set in the building where Joan of Arc's trial took place and uses video projection technology to put you right in the middle of the action. Very informative about her story! The videos are in French and you are provided with headphones that translate everything into English. Very well done and engaging for our 9 and 13 year old kids.

Really nice

After several (positive!) cultural shocks, we ended up at the Historial Jeanne d’Arc. The building looks great from the outside. The museum tells you the story of Jeanne d’Arc.

multimedia + tradition
Jul 2021
It's a combination of digital/multimedia presentation of the history (at a certain hour) and possibility to visit some traditional expositions. If you go up the stairs you can enjoy a panoramic view of Rouen.

An interesting and educational activity in an historical setting.

An extremely interesting visit that tells the story of Jeanne d'Arc through videos in different rooms of the Palace. Takes roughly and hour and an half.

The museum is in an old building and the story of JEanne is told. There are a lot of special effects and also lots of places to sit. There is a lift if you cannot cope with winding staircases. There is a headset which allows you to listen to everything en English.

Great History of Joan of Arc
Mar 2020
I apparently didn't know nearly enough about St. Joan as I should! This was a great experience in the old Archbishop's Palace. You would think that the projections and the presentation would be a bit strange in such a historic site, but it worked well. Being a non-native to the area, it was wonderful to be able to hear everything in English. Well worth the price of admission to vist.

Digital presentation of a historical event
Jan 2020 • Couples
I was taken aback by the techno based walk through of Jeanne d’Arc life. As we went from one suite to another other, I found myself enjoying and impressed by the manner this was presented. It made the a historical event relevant to the younger tech-reliant generations. Kudos to the team that runs the museum. Don’t forget the audio guides.

A Bit Boring
Feb 2020 • Family
This museum is about French history and Jean d'Arc story. There are rooms with audiovisual explanations. It was too detailed and long. If you are really interested in history you can enjoy it otherwise visiting the city and the cathedral can be more interesting for a daily visit in Rouen.

Absolutely wonderful
Aug 2019
We decided that, as we hadn't known about Joan of Arc's Rouen connection when we decided to stop there for the night, we should do our best to inform ourselves. We opassed this place as we walked into the Old Town, going towards the cathedral. When we got to the Joan of Arc church and found it disappointing, we decided to visit this place on the way back to our hotel.

Tickets available at the door. An area to wait in until the next tour/performance began. Headsets provided and adjusted.

We went down the stairs into the first room. There was a live guide there, to explain what was going to happen. After that, though, we were in the company of holographic images of what once was, and an authoritative voice in our ears.

Clever use of the setting as we moved from room to room, following the flow of Joan's story, with ample historical context provided by the holograms and the commentary. A fair few ups and downs of steps, some steep and narrow, but there were lifts available for most of these.

The final scenes were pretty harrowing, with torture and screams.

What I really liked about this museum was what came next. Recognising that what is made of Joan is always political, the museum provided several rooms of explanatory exhibits (no holograms, but still a taped commentary) of what various political factions have made of her story throughout the ages. History and historiography in one package.

A small collection of artistic renditions of the Maid rounded off a highly satisfactory and educational museum visit.
