A must for Sunday morning
Aug 2017 • Couples
A great place to browse market and antique/ Bric a brac stalls in an area full of locals taking breakfast or meeting for a coffee. Very reasonably priced cafes in the area and a lovely 'buzz' around the area. Great for people watching.
Several interesting antique stalls with reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Sunday morning is the bomb
Jul 2016 • Couples
I went to buy fruit and vegetables at the Place Saint-Marc market several times during the weeks we were in Rouen. Saturday was great, Friday a bit smaller, and Sunday morning was the largest and most bustling. Lots of flowers, lots of pre-made food, like rotisserie chickens and Indian samosas. And just so many fishmongers and fruit and vegetable sellers. There was a guy who sold home-made pots of pate - would've loved to investigated what he was selling a little more. And just the most flavorful, freshest fruits I have probably ever tasted. Strawberries from Normandy, for example, are incredible, and different than what we grow in the U.S. - theirs continue to grow well into the summer, and they continue to be tangy even after they are quite soft.

Please if you are in Rouen on Sunday do not miss the market in Place Saint-Marc. You will find the best local procure and a wonderful selection of street food from France and the former French colonies. I especially love the meat and tuna samosas sold by in a Moroccan stall. Also the varieties of cheeses and cold cuts is astonishing. It's really a must go place in Rouen.

Massive open air old fashioned market
Sep 2015 • Couples
Located in a large square surrounded by old façaded buildings with modern eateries and outlets at their bottoms. Flanked on all sides by a narrow road bar one which is shared by the pink coloured bendy bus lane. (Do not drive in the bus lane like I did) Some of the stalls are covered a little bit, there is a safe underground car park beneath and metre parking around it. One road off it has lots of fresh fish vendors and one leads to St Maclou one of my favourite areas. At night market is packed away and hosed down so you would never know it had been there, but I felt quite safe in the huge empty square. If you close your eyes you can imagine what it used to be like. Ladies with feathered hats and bustles, hurden aprons, fish wives and horses and carts. A proper market like they used to be.

Sleepy early Sunday morning walk around Rouen and here is what we found. I would move here just to have this market available to me. It has everything from buttons to bread. Fabulous to all senses. Beautiful, just beautiful. The fruits and vegetables are gorgeous. Cheese selection is vast and reasonable priced. The bread? Wow. We picked up our lunch from here, a baguette and Camembert and Neufchâtel cheeses and hit the road. Before taking off we were able to have an espresso across the street and watch the locals shop. A total treat. Loved it.
