Interesting collection of impressionist paintings
Apr 2019 • Couples
The building is very beautiful, set in a small park. The impressionist paintings are part of the permanent collection which is free to view. The entrance price mentioned elsewhere is for the temporary exhibition ( A very interesting collection at the moment: Braque, Miro, Calder). The museum contains many works by known artists ( including some very interesting Sisley) as well as some surprising works by less known artists. Well worththe visit.

A bit expensive
Aug 2016 • Friends
I think the tickets were about $12 each. The paintings were good but I am not sure I would recommend this as there are so many other sites to see here in Rouen that are free.

A shame you can't take photos

Well worth a visit. The free app is also worth exploring. It was particularly interesting to see the letters written by the Impressionists.

A must see experience for all art lovers
Aug 2016 • Couples
Recommended by our gite owner an artist herself, we went full of anticipation and were not disappointed. The museum des beaux artes is a glorious building housing many exhibits but the piece de resistance was the impressionists exhibition.
The paintings gathered from all over the world were outstanding and the 11 euros entrance fee so worth it to be able to view the artworks up close. The permanent exhibits have free entry a bonus.
Magnificant!!

Portraits by the Impressionists
Jul 2016 • Friends
This exhibit at Rouen's Musee des Beaux-Arts is part of Normandy's summer Impressionist festival. If you love Impressionist art, as we do, you could see other sister exhibits at museums all around Northern France - for example, at Paris's Musee d'Orsay and Musee Jacquemart-Andre.

This particular exhibit focused on portraits done by Impressionist artists, and I was exposed to some wonderful Impressionist artists about whom I had previously known little or nothing. For example, Mary Cassatt was the one woman Impressionist about whom I knew previously - it was a revelation to see art by Berthe Morisot and Eva Gonzales. Gustave Caillebotte was another artist who was unknown to me, whose work I very much enjoyed seeing. And of course, regarding Morisot, not only are some great paintings by her included in the exhibit; the cover of the catalog, and all the posters for the exhibit, include Edouard Manet's painting OF her, which is extraordinary.

Fascinating, unusual exhibition
May 2016 • Couples
Unusual exhibition of portraits from the great impressionists from Corot to Cezanne, well displayed with an excellent explanatory film to help understanding, though French only.
