this place is very touristic. it looks as iff all tourists in town gather here because of the earlier torture of jeanne dárc. nowadays there are many restaurants where you can eat for a good price and quality.

The place where Jean d'Arc was burned. Now has a modern Cathedral and there are lots of restaurants and bars. Busy most of the year and a must see.

You really can't visit Rouen and not be aware of the story of Joan of Arc. As a kid in England, I grew up learning about Joan of Arc and the English/French hostilities of the 15th Century. I was aware that Rouen was an "English" outpost in Normandy during those days of yore when young Englishmen and Frenchmen enjoyed splitting... More

It was very cold when we visited there, and was quite empty of people, so we entered the modern cathedral of Jean d'arc, situated in the market place, and is very nice in its internal space.Quite recommended

Place du Vieux-Marche is of course the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. Now it is a square dominated by the modern church dedicated to her, and one of the city's markets that takes place on the weekends and holidays. It is also surrounded by souvenir shops, a number of pubs with outdoor seating,... More

The newish church situated here is of a wonderful modern and unusual architecture reminiscent of a dragonlike appearance on one side. It is facing many restaurants housed in very ancient buildings one of which dates back to 1355 and is the oldest inn in France. Carrying on from there is the Gros Horloge.

Excellent central square that is traffic free. Lots of cafes and restaurants spill out onto the pavements and there is a lovely hustle and bustle about the place. Good for people watchin

Very nice facades. It's a pity we weren't in time to see the interior of the modern church, but even without that it's a nice place

Its just as you would expect with the way Rouen has kept it character. Its good that the Old Town has almost been kept intact. The sqaure has many bars with outside seating nicely arranged.

Excellent area of Rouen, very picturesque although dog owners aren't so particular about clearing up after their dogs - even though bags and receptacles are dotted about. Very cobbled - we saw many "high heels" come to grief - flat, comfortable shoes essential. Lots of cafes spilling out onto the pavement offering a variety of food - quite a lot... More
