This cathedral is HUGE! To see the level of damage from the WWII bombings it is hard to imagine how it could be rebuilt. Luckily the tower and steeple survived. At 160+ meters from end to end it is worth a guided tour.

We were lucky enough to be in Rouen for the last weekend of the light show. We had no idea what to expect, but the hotel staff assured us we mustn't miss this. Wow, totally amazing. So glad we made it. We returned the next morning to view the interior. The history of the restoration that has been done is... More

Rouen is a port city on the Seine and was thus a strategic place in medieval France. The Gothic cathedral was built in 1145 A.D. and is the tallest cathedral in all of France. The impressionistic painter Claude Monet painted the facade in different lighting conditions and at various times of the day. After dusk and during the summer, it... More

A great thing to do to pass the time is to play the part of Monet and just sit in front of the cathedral and watch as the sun's ever-changing position casts different shadows on it. The interior is free to tour which I find to be amazing. And, if you go from June to Sept you will be treated... More

The windows are gorgeous, and a few have explanations on the stories, e.g. St Julian. At night, 10 PM, the lightshow is fantastic!

Yikes. This place is huge. Lots of stained glass. No entrance fee. I didn't even see a donation box. Lots of activity around the cathedrale.

By day, Notre Dame is an impressive structure, but where it becomes really magical is at night, at 9:20 p.m., when the first of two light shows transforms the gothic facade into a mesmerizing and delightful show of 3-D images. Free to the public. Don't miss it!

Located in the heart of the medieval city of Rouen, the Cathedral represents one of the best examples of the flaming gothic architecture in France. The stonework is amazing.
