Wonderful Gothic cathedral whose exterior is as astounding as the interior. Big, big building with huge open space. There is much to see in this fabulous monument; outstanding architecture that leaves one marvelling at the achievement of actually building the place. When you look at the pillars and examine how they are constructed it is hard not to be impressed.... More

Ever since I saw Monet's paintings of this structure I've wanted to see the church. No wonder he painted this 30 times, it is beautiful! It's so grand, yet so delicate at the same time. The design and detail looks like lace. There are so many little things to see, I wish I had my binoculars. The inside is also... More

If you are here it is worth looking inside this dark gothic Cathedral - which is somewhat cold. There are fascinating marble sculptures of saints including one of Joan of Arc in a stained glass alcove. It is here also that the heart (cor) of Richard (Ricardi) the Lionheart is buried. On the east side Inside a reclining statue of... More

From the outside the cathedral is brilliant with great views all round - fabulous architecture. Inside however is rather austere. Big and impressive yes but to me rather drab compared with the outside.

On a very cold day in Rouen it was almost as cold inside. Entrance is free to this magnificent Cathedral and it is a little austere. However, the stained glass windows are interesting as are the statues of various Saints. Very soothing.

The cathedral is stunning. We visited during the Christmas market and enjoyed the cathedral as well as the rest of the town; rich history and very old surviving buildings.

Situated in Rouen, this Cathedral is a must to see. There is a gothic feeling to this visit. It is very calming to sit for a few minutes to take in the atmosphere and then wander throughout this wonderful atmospheric building.

Although the signage is poor in trying to find Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, once we walked around the corner and massive church, I stood in awe. I just could not get enough photos of the outside of the cathedral. It is truly a wonder with detailed statues and beautiful designs. Dare I say that I was not impressed than the... More

The cathedral of Rouen is in several of Monet's paintings, and with good reason. Take advantage of the light show in the summer.

This is perhaps older and most well known Cathedral in Rouen. There is another slightly newer, and quite beautiful Cathedral of Ouen. Still, this is the main cathedral that no one can pass by without a visit. Many stain glasses were kept safe despite the war.
