The gallery is open all day, not thank goodness, closing for lunch. It was also free. 9 shut on Tuesdays I think, so check)It has a good classical collection with some almost overwhelmingly huge paintings. It does have a good Impressionist collection. Including works by Monet, Sisley and earlier Ingres. Because of some lighting problem we weren't allowed in 3... More

The hall behind the ticket desk, entry is free but you get a ticket, sets the tone with some wonderful paintings and sculptures in a well designed tearoom sympathetic to the building and its contents. There are some excellent paintings in this impressive collection well enhanced by the layout and light. We particularly enjoyed the Impressionists rooms. A very nice... More

A lovely art gallery with some important European artists: Duchamp, Duffy, Burne-Jones and Modigliani to name some, and many local impressionists. Huge Victorian paintings of theatre and literature celebrities. The central courtyard is a large café and has a pond and surrounded by classical marble sculptures. The entrance is free as is the cloakroom and the staff very helpful. If... More

Anyone who loves paintings will love this. Not just for the famous impressionists which are magnificent, but a whole range of French, Dutch and Italian art. The central hall is a great place to chill for a coffee. Easy to get to too.

We viewed a special Impressionist exhibit here, and it is a good thing I got a rental car with navigation. Driving the streets and locating parking was difficult enough, without it, never would have got here. Once you have figured it out, parking and museum entry via a parking structure is easy. A very classic and lovely museum to enter... More

This is a wonderful place to see right in the middle of town . We paid to see an impressionist exhibition which was to us a little disappointing.

Discovered local artists, the iron works which has it's own museum. Impressionist's galore. Tiring on your feet as so big. do not eat in the restaurant in the Sculpture room, bad service and nothing special. Well worth otherwise.

If you enjoy looking at French paintings, this museum will be a good place for you. You can see here French paintings ranging from the middle ages to modern times. There are also a few paintings from other European countries like Italy and Spain. However, the collection of impressionist paintings is not as great as the museum boasts about.

The musée is housed in a beautiful building, and it houses a modest but reasonable collection of art pieces. It is one of the few museums we have been to on our European travels that doesn't allow photographs of its holdings, which can be advantageous as you pay more attention to the pieces themselves. There is an interesting collection of... More

Apparently, this gallery houses the second largest collection of paintings outside Paris. The gallery itself is beautiful, with an impressive entrance hall and lovely natural lighting in most of the salons. Although the progression from one salon to the next is somewhat puzzling, this gallery offers a wide viewing selection, particularly of romantic and impressionist painters. Well worth the visit,...
