Dark museum, poorly arranged and indirect lights do not highlight the works! We feel oppressed! The whole scenography is to be reviewed, especially the canvases in the species of wooden niches... Also, the staff is not very welcoming. The museum was not fully open (no info on the site) but fortunately the Award of admission had dropped.
Hardly any explanation on the rooms and especially on Eugène Boudin, nothing is in English it is an attic for a region that welcomes a lot of foreign tourists!!! Disappointing museum, pity

A little bit of a height of honor. Municipal museum that lacks investment. There's poor scenography. No digital mediation device. Some of the paintings are of uneven quality (Ramburg Room ). And one

We enjoyed this museum very much. It was bright, spacious enough to see the exhibits clearly and yet small enough not to get saturated. Two floor were devoted to paintings, some of which were canvases by Eugene Boudin but other artists were also presented. One therefore had a choice of works from very modern to established artists. A third floor was devoted to regional exhibits, e.g. furniture (a room setting), ceramics, church artefacts and costumes. also on view were the type of hats that people used to wear or still wear for special occasions made of lace and very tall or fancy.
Honfleur is a delightful town arranged around a harbour which easy parking in the centre.
It has many shops, cafes and restaurants but predominates with art galleries and one can always see an artists at work. It also has an interesting church and bell tower which is a combined ticket with the museum. Additionally, there are other museums in the town if you have time. Honfleur is one of the jewels of Normandy.

The people on the door were incredibly rude. We wanted to visit the museum but encountered two very officious people on the door who made us feel as unwelcome as possible. I’ve never encountered such rude people before in a museum and have absolutely no desire to return. Very poor indeed.

The Boudin museum in Honfleur is a show case for the work of Boudin who was a friend of Monet 's and worked alongside him painting views of the Normandy coast
The museum is small and not properly advertised -the tourist info implies there are lots of Impressionist paintings there including Monets - but really it is about Budin and his colleague Duborg ( a discovery for me)
But Boudin is a wonderful painter - so go and enjoy !

The absolute first thing I can tell you is that NO PHOTOS are allowed here. The gift store does carry some postcards, so that a remembrance of what you have seen and enjoyed is possible. They did not have a couple that I had wished they had had. Always the case with these situations, isn't it? And any special exhibits are out of the question. But I do remember the late afternoon light coming in and adding a glow to a few works. I just really love the beach paintings with umbrellas and shadows. He was particularly gifted with clouds, I think I felt rain drops a few times. Also, not many here, but he painted cows of all shapes, sizes, breeds and poses, hundreds of them. Glad to have had the opportunity to enjoy and it was worth my time and euros.

It's a nice gallery, not what we expected; but worth the visit. The audio guide is not worth the 2 euros so save your money. The staff was very friendly.

We specifically went to see monet, as everything we read stated they had some of his paintings, apparently not any more

Not making a pilgrimage to Honfleur for specific artists and their works, my expectations were low. Therefore I enjoyed the visit and the mix of styles presented. The odd sculpture never goes amiss and I found the cartoons by Jean Effel very entertaining.
From the upper stories there are good views of the town over towards the Seine and its bridge so a distraction for those who have got bored perhaps.
There is a museum pass which breaks even if you use 2 of the tickets and when I was there, they are no longer available at the tourist information centre. Buy from one of the museums.

Like some of the other reviewers mentioned, there are very few Boudin paintings here: we've seen maybe 4 or 5 oils total, sketches included. Then there are almost 30 Boudin pastels, but half of these are not on display, and the other half are displayed in very weak light for preservation. The rest of the permanent collection consists of a few very minor sketches by well-known names (Courbet, Corot, Dufy, Dali...) and a lot of exceptionally boring, badly painted, uninspired paintings by people you've never heard of, who were likely either born in Honfleur, or lived there for a long time. Oh, and there's also a bunch of stuff by André Hambourg, who in my opinion is a terrible painter, but seems to have ingratiated himself into several Normandy museums.
Naturally, it's something you'd expect from a provincial museum, but the thing is, we paid 8 EUR for this. To put things into perspective, just 9 EUR in Paris can get you a ticket to the Musée de l'Orangerie, which will have Monet's stunning water lilies, as well as a large collection of Matisse and Cezanne. So we were very disappointed here. Even the view from the top floor was spoiled - thousands of little flies were breeding (?) behind the glass, and my poor wife felt sick to her stomach.
That said, Boudin's pastels are exceptional works. And luckily the museum sells a reasonably priced catalogue of pastels in its collection - just 10 EUR - I would suggest picking that book up and skipping the actual museum.

Il y a un passe pour les 4 musées de Honneur à 12 E. Les 4 lieux proposés sont très intéressants. Mention particulière à la maison Satie qui fait totalement rêver.
