Lovely park. We stopped here to kill a few hours before catching our ferry home to the uk and it more than provided! Lovely playground and a fun maze, lots of shady picnic spots, clean toilets, even a little farm animal area to mooch around. We ran out of time!

This is a beautiful park for adults and children alike. La Roseraie at this time of year is beautiful. there is an ornamental pond surrounded by plants and flowers of all colours and rose covered pergolas. There is a small maize, ideal fun for adults with children. Part of the park is dedicated to farm animals.

If you are visiting the Memorial Museum in Caen just behind the building and over a minor road there is the Colline aux Oiseaux I have visited this for the last two years and its a wonderful outdoor experience for the whole family. Its a created garden area and one of the main attractions is the well laid out rose garden which is beautiful with a large pond and fountain in the centre, decking around the pond allows you to dip your feet on very hot days. All the roses are labelled and its a pleasure to see all the vibrant colours and smell their wonderful perfumes.

For the children there is crazy golf next to the Cafe, a small farm area that has some goats, although they do smell a little on a hot day, also a box hedge maze and basically good laid out tarmac pathways. There are quite a few steps but it is also possible to take a more gradual walk round on a lesser gradiant if you have the time. There is a small picnic area and if you visit later in July and August there is a spectacular dahlia garden, entrance and parking is free.

If you are in the Centre of town the Jardines Plantes is also a good experience especially the hot houses where you can take a stroll through humid rooms and see the magnificent cacti. This is also free entrance although you may find you need to pay for parking as the streets around are quite busy.

If you are looking to have an paradise-like encounter with the outdoor, think of La Colline aux Oiseaux in Caen,en Normandie-France.He is breathe-taking and full of character..with gardens from all across the world. He is a clear demonstration of man's ingenuity in transforming a dumpsite of that magnitude (then) to such outrageous beauty.Like the french say:'Chappeau!' to the pioneers and perpetuators of this clever vision for the people of Caen

We found this place following recommendations from Tripadvisor and we are so glad that we did! The gardens and floral displays are magnificent and the whole place is perfect for strolling around with our baby buggy. The facilities are very good and there is so much freedom for kids and adults to enjoy. There are play areas and a not so mini, mini golf and if you complete a circuit of the park you can get food and drink on the way out.

We visited on a cold and gloomy day in November, but even then found this to be a delightful park. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there and did not have time to see everything. In addition to the scenic aspects there is a small farm area, mini-golf, a maze and a cafe.

This park was incredible and I visited well before peak season. I was struck by the numerous sections and diversity, the rose garden, French gardens, the maze, the world gardens, the Normandy animals section and more. The rose garden was not in bloom, but it will be a must see when it is. The baby goats were too fun to watch. There were many folks walking and running for exercise. There is an area where they are testing ground cover for the future new and improved tram system, very cool. I walked there from the city center and it took about 35 minutes. There was a parking lot directly across from the entrance, 2 meter height limit. There was a crêperie next to the park and a few restaurant options at the Caen Memorial just across the street. We are in Caen for a few more weeks and I'll return on a sunny day.

If you are seeking for a pleasant walk & beautiful scenery with a view on Caen, you should come. There is a nice playground for small children ( 1-6 y.o), a farm with local animals (cows, goats, pigs, sheeps etc) - for kids, and you also can see at one pleace the garbage that serves a base for these hills, so one may feel proud about this reconversion from waste area to a green and cosy park.

This park is so big that you could spend a whole day walking between different types of gardens. The flowers are so beautiful. The kids will love the big playground. We played hide and seek in the maze and had such a great time. Unluckily, we did not have time to go to the farm to see the animals. No entrance fee is required for such a great park. If your kids are not tired yet, you could bring them to the Memorial of Caen, which is just next to the park.
