My wife and I took a private tour in early October with Christele (our schedule conflicted with her regular group tour time.) It was wonderful, done at a time (4.00 pm on a Saturday) that best fit in with our other plans and very well worth Christele’s modest additional charge for a private tour.

Christele (both the owner of the business and guide) was an absolute delight to deal with - very efficient and timely in our email correspondence setting up the tour and a charming, funny and very knowledgeable guide, (completely fluent in English) who has clearly put a lot of time and preparation into planning the best possible route to cover the city. It is obvious she loves Bayeux and she brings an infectious charm and wit to telling its history. Both my wife and I felt we learnt so much about the city’s history and geography that we wouldn’t otherwise have known and really enjoyed the two hours we spent with her. The time flew by. With just the two of us on the tour, Christele really focused her attention on us and we were able to get all our questions answered, something that hasn’t always been possible on the other general group tours we have taken elsewhere.

This tour was one of the absolute highlights of our five night visit to Bayeux and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Dear Paul, I remember our visit vividly and I can't thank you enough for your praise. It was such a lovely sunny day and your enthusiasm and cheerfulness made this tour as enjoyable for me as it was for you. Bayeux is so full of heritage buildings and history, private tours really enable us to show it in great details. As for my title, I am not the owner but co-founder of Discovery Walks with Marie-Noëlle: we are now the legendary "Ladies with a green hat"! Be sure that Barbara and you are in my heart as a lovely couple who were a delight to tour with. Wishing you many enjoyable travels all over the world!

This was great value for money and lots of fun - we learned a lot too (and hope we passed the test at the end!!).

What a lovely city Bayeux is - so much to see and how much more we discovered through the tour. And what a tour through hundreds of years of history!

Our guide spoke excellent English.

We (especially my 82 year old Mum) appreciated the opportunity to sit down during the 2 hour plus walk. The pace overall was good.

My husband and I took the 1 1/2 hour guided tour at 5pm this evening. It was a really fun time walking around Bayeux and learning about so much history! Christele even took several photos of us; as we were privileged to be the only 2 guests on this tour! We learned a lot and had a very enjoyable time! We highly recommend the tour! Thank you again, Christele!

The Green Hat ladies were recommended by our guide who showed us around Dieppe and Juno Beach. They do a couple of 1.5 - 2 hour walks twice daily, at 9:30 and around 5. No need to book ahead - you can find them in front of the tourist Information centre. Our guide was charming, very accommodating, and full of historic tidbits and quirky stories about this fascinating town. She really made the history of the town come alive. Covered the roman origins, through the medieval period, and right up to World War II. I learned more history from this woman in two hours than from any other guide we had in three weeks and half a dozen locations across France. If you only do one thing in Bayeux, take this tour. It was even better than the tapestry and the cathedral.

Our tour guide Marie-Noëlle gave a wonderful information packed tour around the ancient city of Bayeux. She clearly loves her job and took us to places in the city that we would never have found on our own. A lovely afternoon activity when in Bayeux!

We had a morning to kill before heading out on a D-Day tour and found a few reccos for this walking tour of old Bayeux online and decided to give it a go. You show up at the tourist office at 9:30 and the lovely guide will greet you. We had the delightful Christele. She was a delight! I love taking walking tours and learning about the places we stay. She gave context about Bayeux and French culture and language that did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Take time for a guided tour with Christele while in Bayeux. She is a wonderful, entertaining guide with history, humor and tidbits to enjoy. The amazing city of Bayeux has so much history connected with D-Day and she shared the best of the best! Memories will last forever.

I am traveling with my grandson and we made Bayeux our headquarters for touring Normandy and the D-Day Beaches. We took the Discovery walk with Christele on May 30th, Ascension Day, a Bank holiday here in France. The tour was excellent and really good introduction to Bayeux. I was surprised how little I knew of or about Bayeux and the amount we learned. I highly recommend this, especially early in your adventure here. Harry

Fantastically enjoyable and educational overview of 2500 years of local, regional, and national history. Heritage buildings, local anecdotes, famous personages, religious and political upheavals, all delivered in an engaging style that was a pleasure to hear. Kudos and many thanks, Christele! Highly recommended.
