My father landed on Omaha beach on June 6, 1944 as part of ‘operation overloaded’. He was an American infantryman, in the second division. He passed away in 1978 after a bout with cancer. I had always dreamed of visiting Normandy, of seeing the beaches, the German bunkers, the villages he helped to liberate. I was able to make this visit, in the company of my oldest son, this past November. My father landed on a beach that was a death trap for the united forces from England, Canada, France, and the United States. The seas were rough, the weather stormy, the beach was mined and those coming ashore were greeted by bullets, mortar fire, and tank shells. Those who made it off the beach alive were lucky, to say the least. My father sustained an injury, but made it to shelter, was treated and went on the liberate France, conquer Germany and meet up with Russian forces who had attacked from the East. The Normandy D-Day tour was perfect, our guide knowledgeable, our group interested. All ages...from young University students to older participants. All had their own stories for why they chose this tour. I reached Normandy, as I had wished. The day was sunny, the waters of the English Channel were calm, the beach pristine. I walked the beach, sat along the sea wall, and talked to my Dad. I visited the memorials of his comrades and recited prayers. My pilgrimage was complete. I walked in my father’s footsteps and I thank TripAdvisor for offering this tour.

Thomas was our guide for the day. He offered a lot of information about the history of the war. We were so impressed with his knowledge. Thanks for such a wonderful day!

If you are in search of a tour guide for Normandy, look no further. The knowledge and passion of D Day presented was amazing. We started at the beach, stopped at a German bunker and finished at the American cemetary. We were at the cemetary to watch the flag lowered and hear taps played. We have read books and watched movies about the liberation of France, but after this tour, felt like I had such a better and clearer picture of what actually happened. If you can schedule him - don't hesitiate.

We had a great one day tour with Guillaume. He was super engaging, had wonderful stories and geared the tour to what we wanted to see. He had answers to all of our questions and we were impressed with his knowledge on all things Normandy and D-day. We all agreed the tour was the highlight of our trip to Normandy!

Once again Blue Fox travel guides know their history! Our guide, Adrian, had so much to tell us about at 6 different stops on our Normandy day trip. He came prepared with photos, diagrams, and lots of informational to recount that historical day. You can tell he takes great interest in the subject area and enjoys talking with you about it. Highly recommended! Great for teens!
