Our family of 6 had a terrific time visiting Mont St Michel and the DDay sites. Iain customized an itinerary that worked perfectly for us. He was a pleasure to work with as we planned our visit. We started with an early morning pickup at CDG and an interesting drive along the cheese route to Mont Saint Michel. After seeing the incredible sunrise over the MSM Abbey, we continued onto Bayeux and this was where Iain shined. His knowledge of the DDay sites and WWII history was incredible and he kept everyone's interest, which is notable as we ranged in age from adult, to college students, to an 11 year old. Unfortunately, we were forced to change our plans for our last day in Normandy due to illness and Iain was very flexible and supportive. He drove us back into Paris that evening. I would highly recommend NormandyONtour.

Hey, Thank you for leaving such a positive review. I remember setting up your M.S.M Hotel and how important it was for you to see that sunrise! You guys were up early, huh? So it was a long haul from Paris to M.S.M, followed by D-Day Tours (usually we do it in reverse), but that is the flexibility & benefit of our Flagship Tour (Overlord-Neptune), where clients basically mix & match to suit (with/without our input as per client' requirements). So glad you guys got to see that stunning sunrise at The M.S.M, and that you enjoyed the D-Day sites too. It's true that I'm first and foremost a D-Day Guide, but as a certified French Guide Conférencier I 'could' guide in The French Heritage sites too (such as Le Mont St-Michel; Giverny etc), but having seen the sheer masses of tourists at these locations, it's clear why 'guiding' (stopping with a group) would create a bottleneck, which would not be safety-conscious or practical at all. To that end, The M.S.M provides multilingual audio headests (3€ appx in 2022), which allow every group member (whether on Private or Group Tour) to self-guide at his/her own pace, stress-free, while also ensuring the continued free-flowing of 'traffic'. So many of The Cultural Visits and Sightseeing Trips are indeed 'freetime' visits, and we simply provide all the necessary info, and narrate until our arrival on-site. Once on-site, clients have around 4-hours freetime. D-Day Tours of course are completely different - and I am glad I was able to shine (not every day is a 'shiny' day tbh, but I still try!) Many thanks for leaving such a kind review - it means an awful lot. Merry Xmas, 2022 and very best for the future. Kindest regards, Iain

Iain, owner of NormandyONtour, provided a fantastic tour of Normandy in 2019 when a friend and I made a side trip to Bayeux. When my family wanted to visit Normandy this summer I said look no further, contact Iain. He is the best!
We provided Iain our wish list and asked him to see what he could fit into our tight schedule. Iain not only showed us everything we wanted to see but also added other sites that I’m so glad we didn’t miss. Truly remarkable sites that we didn’t even know about.
Iain is knowledgeable and has a passion for history. He really comes to light discussing D-Day and WWII. He was genuinely interested in making our trip an adventure we would not forget. He did not disappoint. In fact, he exceeded our expectations.
Iain’s van was well equipment with everything to make our drive comfortable. There were plenty of drinks and snacks. Iain always went the extra mile. He provided wraps when the temperature dropped, was ready with umbrellas when a shower popped up, had suggestions for restaurants, provided reading material for the drive, etc.
On our previous trip to Normandy, we landed at CDG and took the train to Bayeux. It was a hassle and time consuming getting a taxi, hauling the luggage up and down stairs, etc. Iain offered to provide roundtrip airport transportation. It’s a no brainer. Get the roundtrip transportation and save yourself the hassle!

Bottom line - Iain is well informed, an outstanding guide, a genuinely great guy and it was truly fun to spend time with him. We have already recommended Iain to friends who are in the process of creating an itinerary with NormandyONtour!
I highly recommend Iain and NormandyONtour for your next trip to Normandy.

Hey Mary, Your 2nd tour with us. You were here in 2019 before Covid, and I immediately remembered your happy, welcoming face - always a pleasure to see clients come back Mary. Your family is absolutely amazing, and I wish your three siblings all the very best. Kindest regards, Iain

This was a fabulous day out. My wife and I chose this because it was a full day shared tour and within our budget. We opted for the US Beaches tour, although we would have taken the Allied Triangle Tour if it had been available. My wife is English, I am American, so we had to settle on one sector. So much to see these days and according to our guide you can easily spend a full WEEK on the beaches! It turned out to be the perfect day out. We had great weather, a great guide, Iain, and a spacious and comfy van with just 7 of us onboard. Iain is from the UK but told my wife he's lived all over the world (has been a teacher, IT guy, truck driver and now runs his own tour company). At university he majored in modern languages with education and WW2 History. He actually tours in different languages (5!), and told Julie, my wife, that he is also a certified french guide which lets him jump on and off tour coaches for big tour companies just to keep his languages current. This man really is a 'historian' in the true sense of the word. As a D-Day guide he REALLY was in a class of his own. You can tell he's a born teacher too, so many stories... He truly brought the entire history to life for us and was extremely passionate as well as knowledgeable. He is also incredibly friendly, patient, considerate of everyone's needs and helpful to the max. With just 7 people in the minivan he went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy with their day. I would highly recommend Iain in a heartbeat and Normandyontour to anyone looking for something a bit 'special'.

Iain was the best tour guide we could have hoped for. He is so knowledgeable about the history of this area and so personable. He made our time in Bayeux was memorable. My 8 year old granddaughter and I traveled with my husband and his colleagues who were planning for future curriculum for medical students. Iain worked with the group to make the itinerary more efficient in order to see as much as possible. At the same time, he made sure that the 8 year old enjoyed her time as well, giving us opportunities to enjoy the beaches we went to.
If you are planning a visit to Normandy, Iain will create an itinerary tailor made just for you. I highly recommend NormandyONtour with Iain!

Hey Lisa, How is 'little Eden' doing? She was an absolute spark. I love having kids along on tour (I miss them from back in my teaching days). There were 3 'wee ones' on board yesterday (5, 7, 10) and when mum n dad jumped out at the Bayeux pharmacy for 10 minutes (to get the kids nausea tabs for their Amsterdam drive next day), the three of them just kicked into 'storytelling over-drive'. It was just hilarious... Hope you guys are all good, no doubt busy as ever... I'll get back to work myself - website still ain't live! Take care Lisa, Very best Iain Ps. Give 'Dave' a hug from me please.

Iain customized our family's tour at the last minute, even arranging a grave visit for a family member that was lost in Operation Overlord, John S. Leuty. The ceremony turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. He expertly created a four day itinerary that satisfied one son's love of medieval France with another son's love of World War 2. He cares about the comfort of his customers even going to the pharmacie to purchase medicine that I needed. His knowledge of the area and especially World War 2 is fact driven and accurate and interesting. Our entire family had a fantastic time! The only disappointment was that the tour ended. I highly recommend NormandyONtour.

Working with Iain was such a great experience! While I am a complete novice at trying to plan a tour for my faculty and students, Iain took control and reworked our itinerary to gain the maximum benefit and tour experience for our group. Had we not booked with him on such short notice, we would have had the full advantage of him planning our entire trip. He is knowledgeable about anything and everything Normandy and kept us engaged with his knowledge and history. He worked well with everyone in our group and even kept our 9 year old participant feeling welcome and making sure we had time for her to play on the beaches. I would definitely recommend NormandyONtour!

A tremendous tour. Iian did a fantastic job. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the areas. He was also fluent in English ( good for us Americans), German, French and Spanish. When we were going to the airborne museum, he suggested we get some street sausages and eat as we walked instead of going to a Bistro. He was correct when he said a sit down lunch would take at least an hour. Instead we went through the incredible museum and ate as we walked. Visited many sites, including the cemetery where we observed the flag lowering with a relative of one of the many brave US servicemen thereto receive the flag. After a long day Iian went “above and beyond “ my credit card didn’t work at a gas station, I had told Iian that fact earlier in the tour, he remembered and followed us to the gas station and filled up our car with gas for us. Of course we paid him for the gas, but this was not a service I would expect from a tour guide. Well done!

Henry! You made me laugh this morning my friend: "Iain is fluent in English...". It's my NATIVE language buddy, so - even though I'm from Scotland (and "yes" we do have an accent that's not quite 'Royal') - I'd still expect to at least have read "Iain spoke perfect Scots, which we too are now fluent in..." "(smiley face). No but seriously, when I taught English worldwide for 'The British Council', I must confess to sometimes teaching foreign students of English the 'correct' ('received pronunciation' or 'Queen's English'), followed by a rendering of our Scottish throaty 'r' (sounds like a machine gun). I digrrrrrress... Thank you for touring with us and for taking the time to leave a review. These matter more than I realised years ago when starting out (else I'd have 'pushed harder' to get 'em). Hey, you're welcome for the' gas ', that's just all part of the service my friend. Hey Henry, since you're 'half - Scots' yourself (smiley) are you SURE you paid me for that gas? (Coz we Scots don't like parting ways with our hard-earned Sterling....). ! Have a great trip home, and please give your family my very best wishes. Cheers Henry, take good care. Kindest regards. Iain was an amazing tour guide extraordinaire! We had the pleasure of having Iain for a full day shared D-Day tour of the US Beaches and again the next day for a private customized Allied Triangle Tour (with emphasis on some of the Canadian and British sectors, as well as the Pegasus Bridge Museum, which I have always wanted to go to with my son). Iain is extremely knowledgeable – it’s his job – but he is also very friendly, accommodating and really went out of his way on both the the group and private tour to make everyone feel ‘at home’ in the van. You can tell he’s a teacher at heart – quite funny at times too. We all posed for pictures (and they’re now up on ONtour’s website homepage – with our permission. Just asking us for permission is a courtesy in itself these days!). We had water, juice, snacks and coffee all day, used USB chargers for our phones and accessed the van’s Wi-Fi briefly at breaks. Above all, it was the stories which Iain told along the way from site to site, which transformed the tour into a ‘living’ memory. The sites themselves need no commentary to be honest as they speak volumes. We highly recommend booking a tour with ONtour (NormandyONtour) and make sure you ask for Iain!

We gave Iain a huge challenge with a compressed time schedule and must-hit list of the DDay Beaches and historical sites, and he knocked it out of the park. He’s an expert on the region, extremely well informed on the historical side of things but also entertaining. We never would have seen as much as we did and learned as much as we did without his expertise. Highly recommended.

Our tour of the American D-day beaches with Iain was excellent. He provide us with more history than I ever learned in school and filled the experience with exceptional stories and context. He made the time fly by and his limited tour size gives you a chance to have all your individual questions answered. He anticipates your every need and his passion for the subject matter is contagious. I highly recommend this tour. You’ll have a wonderful time.
