This impressive structure dates bak to the 6th century, over th years it was central to many conflicts, also sustaining a lot of damage during WW2, it is located in a lovely village area, well worth a bit of time to stroll around.

We found this place by chance but are really glad we did.

The Abbey has seen better days but this adds to it's charm. There is just something about it which draws you in. The lady in the shop is knowledgeable and enthusiastic and us happy to answer questions.

When you have finished in thwbgrounds there us a small lake at the bottom of the hill which you can walk around.

Love this place which place which is well worth a visiting you are in the area.

If you are in the area then the Abbaye Cerisy La Foret is worth a visit.
the Abbey is unique in Normandy and has been around since 1032. Nice and cool
on a hot summers day.

The restored abbey church is a fine example of the late Roman style, you can see and feel the effort to build high and light . The stabilty problems were later solved and resulted in the Gotic style . But in this church you see the start of the later style developments. .

Renovated after much damage in WWII and now used as a parish church. However the abbey dates back to the 6th century. Although the present building was founded in 1032 as is dedicated to Saint Vigor.

An attractive and quiet site which compares very well with other Norman abbeys. Like many french villages, it is very quite!Unusually, the site does charge an admission fee and is open from April to October.

The Benedictine abbey of Cerisy-la-Forêt is a very beautiful abbey.
The exterior is rather empty but can be visited. What you shouldn't miss is its reflection in the pond just below.
A circuit of sculptures has also been installed there.

A very beautiful abbey located next to a small body of water, ideal for taking pretty photos if you like to play with reflections.
