In the 19th century, major stations around Europe were built to impress: the travelling public was still frightened of the speed and noise of trains and these stations helped allay fears - in theory, at least! This is a classic, lovely old station, worth seeing.

The Eurostar as well as French TGV (Inoui) and Belgian Thalys all pass through here making it easy to access Lille and many spots in Europe from here. Easy to buy tickets from the machines but make sure you have a card with a pin...More

We came from London and in order to go to Paris, you walk about 15 minutes from Gare Lille Europe to Gare Lille Flandres. We needed to use Google Maps since there is little signage showing the way. Gare Lille Flandres is very comfortable, offers...More

Not to be confused with Lille Europe, up the road and required for Eurostar and long distance trains. Lille Flanders is undergoing some refurbishment inside. Some snackeries. Toilets are down a staircase. €0.90 per customer

This is the original station - be careful, Eurostar uses Eurolille (half a mile out)! Iron and brick, good facilities and links to metro, trams, buses. 2 blocks from city centre.

I will share with you photos of the street just in front of the gare. The street will lead you to the city center with everything around you.

It has all you can expect from a train station. Is is a bit dirty though and you get some creepy dudes asking for money, but you also have a lot of security around and sometimes the army.. so it's safe.

I lived in Lille 35 years ago, and seem to remember this being much grander. The outside is still very grand, but the inner hall seems to be more workaday than I recall. Still, it might be somewhere you need if you're taking a train,...More

Great and wide railway station with no particular architecture. Transit from TGV to other connections is problematic. The TGV platform is too narrow and getting of the train to your connecting train is difficult. Poor information boards, trains to Belgium only indicate Courtrai, while they...More
