Lille is a beautiful city, filled with cafés, restaurants, and people walking around. The grand place offers several restaurants in the area, and tourist attractions. The problem besides the drivers zooming by, is the smokers and the urine smell in almost every corner. I belive in people's right to smoke, but the smoke is so overwhelming, that it seems as... Get to know the Grand Place as it is at the heart of the city. Maybe a tad scruffy, but it does get a lot of traffic of all kinds - take care.

Beautiful buildings ornately decorated in Flanders architectural style. We visited on a sunny day and spent some quality time there on a recent visit to Lille. This is the cultural and spiritual heart of a great city. There are some lovely restaurants and bars too.

General de Gaulle Square is worth a wander. Lots of bars/cafes. Plenty of atmosphere as there were football fans around!

Football weekend...not for us. Still no bother. Quite safe. Grande Place really is Grand. Shopping..cafe bars..Boulangeries and chocolatiers just superb.History and Architecture fit well alongside each other. A Weekend is not long enough in Lille. Worth a mention.... The morning after the match the fanzone and town centre were cleaned quickly and efficiently. A credit to them all.

Clearly the square was busy and very lively but the bars and restaurants offered excellent service. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant just off the square where I had a lovely steak and the obligatory glass of rouge.

The Grand Place is the centre square in Lille and it's surrounded on all sides with bars, cafes and restaurants. We were here during the Euros and the atmosphere was electric with both sets of fans intermingling and enjoying themselves. It was nice to sit and enjoy our drinks while people watching. Not to be missed while visiting lovely Lille
