I'm not sure how one goes about reviewing a street, but here goes: I had read about Rue de Bethune before visiting Lille, but happened upon it by accident (it's hard to miss). The street was much more crowded than any other in Lille at the time, but not to the point of unpleasantness. There were a plethora of shops,... More

Great new part of Lille city where you can clothes and shoe shop until you drop, if that's you're thing. Some great little waffle shops and delicious ice cream.

Very busy streets that concentrates all the good shopping in one spot. It's worth taking a stroll and going inside the boutiques. While you are at it, grab a waffle, or some croissants from any of the vendors. The street smells like an open air bakery most of the day. It gets very crowded on Saturdays though.

I walked along this street many times, sharing smiles and kisses. Sometimes it smells of croissants, other times of Armani perfumes or of morning fresh air. I recommend it on a sunny day in March when it's not so crowded.

Walking round the centre of Lille there are lots of nice roads to walk down. Rue de Bethune is one of them and will lead you from the centre of town to the Musee de Beaux Arts. There are nice shops, a cinema and places to eat. Well worth checking out.

This is the main pedestrianised shopping area in the modern part of the city. All the best shops are here and there are nice shopping arcades (if the weather is not so good), H&M, C&A, Galeries Lafayette, Zara etc, as well as many excellent speciality shops. What is nicer than to sit and have coffee in-between bouts of shopping, followed... More

Lille has a big contrast between the old and new parts and this street is very modern lots of shops to check out. Like most of France it is very expensive and branded shops only, worth checking out a store called Cool Cats for some really nice clothing sales

Was bustling with people when we went. You find most of the shops on the high street here. Very vibrant and stark contrast to the old city. Definitely worth the visit

We happened to be in Lille on New Years Day (a public holiday, hence everything is closed!!) so went to the UGC cinema and watched the hobbit. if it says VTSoF on the listing it means it is in it's original language with french subtitles! probably common knowledge but just so you know ;-)
