This church is on the river bank between EDF Bazacle and the Pont Neuf, so a visit to both sites works well. It is a fairly typical church – quite dark in places, with several side chapels. The most interesting of these is that nearest to the altar on the south side. This depicts a rather unusual black Madonna and Child. The Madonna statue has a series of different gowns for different months: (photos of all the gowns are shown). Many of these are modern creations, and somewhat unexpected. When we visited in May, she was clothed in a creation bedecked by multicoloured bows. It certainly enlivened what would otherwise have been a fairly unremarkable church.

This church has a beautiful exterior. And very cool old doors. But the inside is plain and looks rather unimpressive. It’s still nice and big.

This unusual church is located close to the fish market, the Marche de Carmes, and not far from the banks of the Garonne River. It has a rather grand and somewhat austere exterior that imposes itself upon the local area. The church dates back to about 1480 and was built on the site of a previous church that was built in 541 and served its parishioners for 900 years until it burned down in 1442. The current church originally had a bell tower that was 91m high and was the highest point in the city, visible from everywhere. However, the tower inexplicably collapsed in 1926, causing much damage to the church and local houses and killing two unfortunate bakers on their way to work. The tower was never replaced but, due to the damage caused, the interior was completely restored resulting in a 15th century exterior and a 20th century interior – a rather unusual architectural package.

The photo on this thread is the Eglise Notre Dame de la Daurade which is along the riverside
Quai de la Daurade shaded by trees (visible on the thumbnail pic). The thread title Eglise Notre Dame de La Dalbade is in the same area but some distance away from the riverside. I get the impression from one of the other reviews that the building they have posted about is the Quai Daurade church. This confusion rather undermines the reliability of this or any other thread. Someone at Trip Advisor with knowledge of the city really ought to be checking that the photos match the thread title. I don't need to add much to my review title as the interior seemed very run down. As for the Black Madonna the one now in there is apparently the 3rd. If I'm not very much mistaken the previous one (also a replica) apparently disappeared to use a polite form of words, hardly what you would term as miraculous?

While visiting old streets South to metz street there is the chance to see the old buildings of Dalbade old street and some of its yards and the church of the neighborhood- the Eglise Notre Dame de la Dalbade. It is an average church with nice front side decorations above the main gate.

The first church at this spot in the attractive Carmes quarter of Toulouse dated back to the year 541. It burned down 900 years later in 1442, the present fortress-like construction dates from the late XV century. At the exterior over the entrance is a colorful Italian-style ceramic renaissance tympanum representing a copy of Fra Angelico's Coronation of the Virgin. The interior displays powerful stained glass windows including a rosette window, paintings, statues and a beautiful organ originally built in 1849, subsequently several times modified.

Imposing from the outside, with a beautiful frontispiece, the church disappoints in the inside. You might just as well skip it.

A nice old church with a fairly basic interior. A tall ceiling, lots of stained glass windows and a fancy organ.
Worth a quick look if you are passing by.
