Divided between indoor and outdoor sites, the PDLP tells you as much about prehistory as you can realistically retain in one visit. The indoor museum space is superb, completed by a very informative wireless audio guide. The park itself has interactive pursuits, hosted by staff, as well as reconstructions of prehistorical structures you can enter, climb over etc. The café/restaurant... More

We visited this parc during a French Bank Holiday weekend in May. We arrived just before lunch and stayed for about 4 hours. Our children (11, 10 and 8 yrs), all enjoyed the day. Highlights for us were the cave paintings on the artificial wall (which gets washed off at lunchtime). They did this both before and after lunch and... More

We visited at the end of June before the summer rush. The park is well done and kids will probably love it. The exhibition is not suitable for the visually handicapped.

This place got our attention right from the entrance, where it rather put into perspective how old the things were that we were about to see. The indoor museum part is fascinating and cleverly done - although a little confusing in the very dark areas. It was a shame my headset for the self-guided tour wasn't working properly, but at... in this Parc we learn so much about our ancestors. It makes you understand better about the Prehistoric life. People were smart. It's interesting to with kids but also as adults. Whenever you are in beautiful Ariège don't forget to spend a day in the parc.

We've been many times and it never fails as a great day out. The place was very quiet during October half term so no queuing for the spear-throwing! The guide was great, spoke good English and allowed our kids to have many attempts at throwing the spears. The museum is very well done and the kids' commentary is very good.... More

This very much an educational experience, however they do make it fun and it is for all ages. There are many parts to this attraction which are interactive and the exhibits are of the highest quality. If you cannot get to Niaux the replica here is actually indistinguishable from the original.

This is an attraction well worth visiting. You won't fully understand the significant prehistory of the Ariege unless you see it. As a prelude to the outdoor activities on offer, there is a large, indoor, self-guided exhibition space devoted to local prehistoric topics. The excellent English language commentary, which is very intelligently conceived, automatically changes as you go round points... More

Large outdoor park, which didn’t have much activies in September anymore or at the time which we visited. Maybe this is better attraction for the children. The museum was okay with ice age theme and prehistoric art. There were funny activity where you were able to race with a lion. Free parking.
